Yep, and I have to wait until Thursday to mail it to Indianapolis. I really want a personal protection permit, but my dad wasn't crazy about it. Plus, they can't deny you a target/hunting permit if you check out, but they can deny you a personal protection even if you do check out. So Im a bit disappointed in that regard, but at least I'll be able to take my pistols to the range now.

I don't know where you got your info but it is not correct. Indiana is a "Shall Issue" state. They must issue you a permit (target or carry) if you complete the process and pass the background check.

Wait... really? Are you serious? So I could get my personal protection permit? My dad told me that they could deny you.

I need answers. :(

First, how old are you?
Last, go to handgunlaw dot us for your state's laws or better yet, go directly to your state's website.

I'm 18, and that's the age for all handgun permits in the State of Indiana. And I tried researching this before I went to apply but I didn't find anything. Well, I didn't know what "Shall Issue" meant, either. But how would I go about correcting this? Would I call the Sheriff's Office and say "Hey I checked the wrong box"?

Shacklemenot is correct. Indiana is "Shall Issue" if you qualify you can not be denied. The Sheriff can recommend denial it must be in writing and specific as to why, but if the Superintendent does not see a legal reason to deny it, he must approve it.
