I just bought a used Sig P220. After doing Some research, I think it was made in either 95 or 96. It does have some slight pitting on the slide. I want to have it polished and re-blued, but I'm not sure if it's carbon steel or Stainless. It says made in Germany on one side, and SigSauer in big letters as well as Sig Arms INC, Exeter-NH on the other side. It doesn't have any date stamping that I can find, but the Serial starts with G 280 XXX. Let me know what you think.

You're welcome! That pin showing on the slide is to hold in the breechblock and stainless slides are solid with no pin.;)

The date code should be on the bottom, front of the slide. Two tiny letters, maybe KF or KG. I recently bought a JH ('87) dated P220.

I always feel envious whenever someone gets a P220 on this forum, just a few more months and I'll be able to get my own P220.

I bought a used nickel plated 1996 build last year. It ran perfectly, but since it was 14 years old, I sent it back to SIG for a refurb in August. They completely dissembled the pistol, replaced all the springs, ultra-sonically cleaned it, installed new SigLites, tested it, and zeroed it in, all for $129.95 plus $55 shipping. When I got it back, I couldn't believe it - it looked and functioned like a brand new gun. Unfortunately, it was stolen two weeks later along with four other pistols. It was recovered a week later in a traffic stop, but has been held hostage by the Gwinnett County Police Dept. ever since.

Sig p220 refinishing

Ship the pistol to "robar" in arizona and have them plate the entire pistol in their famous "np3" finish.
