Just Bubba'd my SKS.

to be honest i have "NEVER" had a problem with them, they feed everything i put in it, and the mags works great, i would recommend those mags to anyone, the only thing is that you need to hold the bolt back to insert the first mag, then when you finish shooting the bolt locks back with the last bullet fired and you can change the mag but that can be fixed if it's an issue, but for me is not, so i just leave it like that and they keep working just fine.

here are some videos about those mags been used.

the only ones I had seen were Yugos for $250 with the silly bayonet and grenade launcher

Uhhh...what? Yugos look so much better than norincos it isn't funny. Thats a well known fact.

sarduy, I watched those videos many times before finally buying an SKS. It convinced me that the SKS could do a hi-cap mag without stumbling. Glad to hear yours are working out. I still haven't heard anything negative about the Tapco 20rders. :)

esmith, guess it's just personal preference. The Yugo looks really mean with all the stuff on the end of the barrel, but I wanted simple and short. The Norincos certainly have inferior furniture. And I didn't want to bubba a Yugo. I do think they look pretty sweet. Again, I said silly because they just didn't fit my needs.

I agree with you buying for your needs. Believe me, if i could get a norinco today for 150 i certainly would, even with a little cosmetic issues. They are all nice.

Yugos or Norincos with blade or spike or even without bayonet are the same...if you want a bayo get one if you want a grenade launcher get one...but for the love of god...:cuss: "GET WHAT YOU WANT/LIKE/NEED!" other than that all sks are just sks no matter what country or configuration they have...

i just find that sexy dont ya?

It was difficult enough to find this Norinco. All of the Yugos I saw in my search were at one pawn shop that likes to overprice milsurp stuff. Their SKSes were all at $250, and none of them looked that great. I almost gave up and ordered a Yugo from Centerfire for $215 shipped (bless the C&R), but then stumbled on this Norinco. I am going to be watching diligently for more of these. I'm starting to like the SKS more and more. I've got some Silver Bear 7.62 coming, so hopefully I can shoot her in the next couple of weeks.

sarduy: You are right, there are lots of variants of the Yugos... but the one I'm referring to is the one most commonly seen today, the M59/66, with the bayo/grenade launcher.

I'll see what I can do. I just sent in my paperwork for the local club, so I might have to wait a while to do their range training. But I ordered the Silver Bear because it was the cheapest I could find and it's supposed to be non-corrosive, although that shouldn't be an issue since the Norinco is purported to have a chrome-lined barrel.

What kind of accuracy can I expect at 100 yards? I am not looking to do anything crazy. I may take it whitetail hunting in the future, though.

Sexy pic, sarduy. Kind of like the pic of the fields of AKs from Iraq.

I don't consider adding the Tapco stock and mag to a SKS a Bubba job. Its not a premenant change.

I got a New in box and cosmo Norinco a couple of month ago and just put it into the Tapco stock, with a Tapco mag.

Looks good.

I allready have a couple of Yugo SKS's and a Russian one, which i plan on leaving as is.

Since My Chinese SKS was a export model and not a surplus one, i don;t have as strong desire to keep stock.

However at any i change it back to stock.

Now hack the stock and paint it black and we have a bubba job. :p

Yugo's are only slightly different from the other SKS's (minimal at best). The only reason I will be purchasing (another) one in a couple weeks is to sweat the grenade launcher off and find a suppressor that fits!

Shade00, If an AK got an SKS pregnant, and the SKS then went and had an abortion, it would look like that. :D But hey, if it shoots good for you and you like it, that's what matters.

sarduy,
I'm definitely no expert on C&R, but don't you have to remove the GL and bayonet when you change up the stock and mags like that?

Curious, because I'd like to get a 2nd Yugo SKS and "accessorize", while leaving my 1st as it was intended.

As long as you have enough 922R compliant parts, I don't think you do. You may even be able to keep the bayo, but theres no reasonable way they could make you take off the GL, as the barrel is threaded. A few composite stocks have the nitch cut for the bayo.

buck00, I did it a favor. ;) The furniture was in terrible shape. Plus I'm sure some disrespecting redneck would've come along and done much worse. I'll give her a good life... lots of action... good cleanings...

The bad news is now you guys have me thinking about getting a Yugo too...

I believe the SKS should be left as the great lord Siminov created it. But I won't gripe since it looks like nothing perminent has been done with it and it does look good.

And you need to get you wife in line. The best way to cure someone from their fears is to have them confront them.
And if that does not work you can do what my dad did. My mom kept throwing fits when my dad would bring a new gun home. His solution was to store all his guns in a storage shed in a fenced in part of are yard that my mom never went into. He would make his gun purchases in secret, throw away the recepts before getting home, and sneak them into the shed when she was not looking. This went on for fourteen years followed by ten years of being happily divorced.

that's what happen when she enter the storange shed? :neener:

Haha, unfortunately I am limited in how I can 'hide' long guns. Handguns, maybe, but long guns... not a chance. So no hope there...

I'm certain that she'll change her mind at least a little when I finally get her to shoot the SKS. She loves shooting the revolvers (got her a S&W Mod. 37 today), but is intimidated by my Mosin. So sooner or later I'll get her to shoot the SKS.
