First time I took mine to the range, I had several people asking what it was and they couldn't believe that it was a $100 rifle.

yep! nothing's quite like pulling that godawful trigger for the first time.... pulling... pulling... BOOM!!! reload, repeat, pick the dried blood out of your nose, great day!

now get an AK! (just make sure everyone to your right is in a good mood)

You guys are right. One shooter asked me if my Finnish 1939 was an 8mm of some sort. I really like the way it shoots with Winchester 180 gr soft points.

Yea tell me about it. All my one friend has is a mosin nagant. turns every ones head. made me turn my head a few times. the one time he gave me a shot. on my last shot i shouldered it wrong. got me right in the shoulder bone. it hurt the next day too.

Depending on the age group of the shooters around you, it is really surprising what gun will have the wow effect. That's part of the fun of shooting the old mil-surps and older guns in general. Bet it was fun to stand back and watch the reactions. The guns that speak LOUD get attention quickly.

Yep, my Finnish M39 always attracts a lot of attention. Deep, potent BOOOOOM! Actually, the last time out there was a second M39 on the line, in addition to a Mosin M44 that got the most attention of all. The 20" carbine length Mosins produce a ridiculous fireball out of the muzzle that is especially visible on a cloudy day. I'm gonna have to get an M44 or 38 one day.

I imagine that if the bad guy is close enough, you could set him on fire with that flame thrower!
