My SAR1 had a terrible trigger, and I never got around to fixing it. I went to Gunsnet.net to see how to fix the trigger slap, which was my main problem with the gun. While I was there, I went over to the FCG Polishing link. It didn't look difficult, and I'm pretty good with a Dremel (yeah yeah, I know some of you are scared of the combination of Dremels and firearms) so I decided to try it out. After all, if I screwed something up I could always order a G2 FCG from Tapco. I didn't have any problems with the polishing or anything. Actually, the most difficult part was getting the shepard's hook back on during reassembly.
End result: No more grittiness, smooth pull, lighter pull. I'd estimate the pull at about 4-5lbs. It's kinda two stage - the first part is smooth, then hits more resistance. At this point, if the trigger is pulled slowly, it feels like it almost adds a third stage then stops right before it breaks. If it's pulled more quickly, the "third" stage can't really be felt and it still breaks cleanly.
I'm sure someone that's not a member of WECSOG could have done a better job, but I'm happy with it Now to test it at the range....
