H&R Handi Rifle SB2 receiver, Buffalo Classic Carbine 45 LC reamed to 454 Casull, custom made by me Mannlicher type stock. Now wearing a more appropriate scope.

I need to take some better pic's.
My H&R Classic Carbine in .45 Colt. Lightweight, accurate, affordable.

No pics available at the moment, but I have a Savage-Stevens Model 89 single-shot that is designed to look like a fake lever rifle. It's a falling-block action gun, with the lever used to drop the block to expose the breech. Beneath the barrel is a faux magazine tube which is purely aesthetic.
It was a fun little backyard play-shooter when I lived somewhere I could get away with shooting it. Takes the shorts, longs, and LRs. I think I paid about &30 for it at a gun show around 1988 or so; they were only made that year and the year before, if I recall correctly.

Chief 101-That wood is insane! Can you post a couple more pics of it please? (and the story behind it...)

Oh, and my 3 are a Handi-Rifle in 30-30 that shoots 1 1/2" groups, a Pedersoli Rolling block in of course 45-70 (I forget which model exactly they call it) and a Uberti Sharps Long Range Target Model with 34" bbl that hasn't had a round chambered yet. Ok, I admit it, I loved the whole Quigley thing but I'm here to tell you that sucker is HEAVY! and I am afraid I am not as manly a man as Tom Selleck 'cause I'm not shooting that thing up on my hind legs - just off sticks.

TexPat - anything that your Tiger will eat will be fine in the Handing. Mine is teamed to 454 and they are made in 500 S&W as well. Your issue will be finding one. The 45 Colt is no longer made.

I've always like a nice single shot.

Here are the ones I own currently.

posted via that mobile app with the sig lines everyone complains about

hey PO2 hammer, does that H&R handle hot loads like Buffalo Bore?, I hunt with .45 LC Blackhawk for pigs. might get one of these.
They'll handle any 'Ruger only' and many have been converted to .454 Casull.

Recoil can be stiff with heavy loads, but the butt plate is well shaped to handle it. It's the most comfortable steel butt plate I've ever shot with.

Mine is an NEF in .22WMR, this thing is accurate!

Would like to get an NEF handi rifle in .357 mag, with short (16 inch) barrel and stock, like a "youth" size or something, and iron sights. I think that would be a great "camp" gun, could break in down and stuff it into a backback really easily. Can shoot lead bullets for cheap plinking too.

Would also be cool to see one in .30-40 Krag...

I got a few Ruger No. 1s, but looking for a cheapo to take in the brush with me along with my revolver after hogs. I used to have a Handi rifle in .22-250, but when I shot it, the action would break open sometimes, kinda scared me off.

My first gun ever was a single shot Marlin 22LR. You had to pull a ring at the back of the bolt to cock it. I wish I could find another one of those.

My only current single shot is this Polish Trainer patterned after a Mosin Nagant. It's a fun shooter.

I've got a cheapo Rossi single shot in 7.62x39 that I use for hog hunting, has a 3-9x32 scope on it and is an excellent set-up. Won't shoot the surplus steel cased/Russian ammo at all, primers are too hard, but loves the brass cased American stuff. Best round I've found so far is the new Hornady Zombie-Max. Forgive the ammo name, it's basically their poly tipped round, very accurate in my Rossi. Love that gun.

hey gscrasher, does that Ruger No. 3 shoot any good? I used to have 2, wish I still had them, got em brand new in box 30 years ago, one in .223, other in .22 Hornet, but even with some good Leupolds and some other good glass, neither would shoot worth a darn, sold both rifles and the new owners couldlnt get them to shoot either. shot all over the place.

I bought this at a police auction for $12.50. Someone sunk a wood screw through the breach block making it into a toy. Took me 10 years to find a replacement then I refinished the wood and metal myself and installed new sights. About $23 total investment.

Faster to just buy one...

I love my singleshots. I started with a CIL/Anschutz bolt action .22 as a first gun. I always liked the pics of schuetzen rifles in the few articles there were on them, and the Ruger #1. At present I have a #1 in .32-30Rem and 450/400NE 3". I took a fire sale Browning 1885 in .22-250 and converted it to 32-40win, then picked up another one in .223 the year before they quit building them in highwalls. And found a Stevens 044-1/2 action at a gun show one day, built a .218bee on that. And an 1887 H&H, 300Rook. Over the last couple of years I have picked up a Win 1885 safari in 300H&H and a Merkel K1 in 7Rem Mag.
And I want more. I'd like a CPA, possibly a Hepburn, and will keep the eye open to another rook rifle. I have to be a good boy for a while though, as I have developed a bug for guns of the SXS variety. Good thing we can't hunt with pistols up here, some of those Contenders would be very tempting.
