Got a slightly used Beretta 92FS - a "ghost", meaning it's all steel (well steel alloy) called the Inox therefore, and has grey wrap-around grips, hence "the ghost". Sort of rare I think. (But I didn't know that when I bought it; I just wanted a 92FS and happened to stumble on this one)

Big gun but I CCW it OK. 9mm feels like a .22 with this gun, and it's really accurate. Reliability great: as tested by Beretta USA 17,500 rounds with no stoppages. It had a test overseen by army personnel: 10 men shooting the Beretta: 168,000 rounds with no stoppages.

Shoots real smooth, and I'm getting used to the DA/SA, not too hard because I'm used to revolvers.

Anyway, I think a great gun and am quite happy with it.

Congrats on the new 92! They are awesome. I have several myself.

However, only the upper is steel. The frame is anodized aluminum.

Inox is a synonym for stainless steel. The 92 inox has a stainless slide, barrel and other action parts. The frame is aluminum alloy. Using a magnet you will be able to tell what parts are aluminum alloy and what are stainless steel.

They are very nice pistols and since there's no finish to the stainless portion they retain their looks, are resistant to corrosion and do not show wear as much as a blued gun.

"Cool. You sure the frame is steel?"

Far as I know, all the 92FS (and the military twin M9) have a steel/alloy frame. I guess that means metallurgy that "mixes" the two. But I'm no expert on that point.

I think one of the old 92s - "92somethings" - were just plain steel.

Congrats on a nice find. I found a nice 92fs in INOX form a while ago as well. A beautiful gun, one of the softest shooting, extended range time friendly guns I've ever used. I'd like to try those Hogue grips, I imagine they make the gun that much more user friendly.

I really like the look of that gun. I find it equal to the S&W 686 in stainless in the looks department. The Beretta 92f Inox in .40 caliber is on my short list. Because of my size and the way I dress, a XD(m) Compact .40 for CCW is my next buy instead of the 92f. It bumped the 92f out of the "next" position when I decided to begin carrying.

.40 cal is referred to as a model 96. 92 is 9mm.

also an all steel Beretta does exist. Its called a Steel I. Kinda rare in the states. Notice the frame safety and vertec grip. Super sexy IMO and almost "holy grail" status for us Beretta-heads.

I could have picked up a steel a few times a few years ago. I just don't care for the vertec grip, personally.

The Beretta Steel is 1200 grams, or nearly 42.5 ounces, neatly depicting why the standard ones use aluminum alloy.

I'd rather have a Billenium. But, there are no rubber hogue grips made for the frame safety Berettas, unfortunately. Otherwise, I'd own a Billenium already.

Yea, it is my understanding that it wouldn't work. Are the frame screw holes even in the exact same place for the Beretta and Taurus 92?
