I ordered a Hogue HandALL grip for my Sigma a week ago, and I just got it. I abused the hell out of my gun trying to install it, and it sucks! It feels really wide, it seems like somethings bulging out, and when I looked there was. Overall, it was a waste of ten dollars. I don't know if I should have gotten the HandALL Jr or something, but this one seems too big and bulky.

I didn't like it either. The "bulging" part is a palm swell. It's supposed to improve the feel, but I too find it to really make the grip feel odd. I also am not a fan of the finger grooves.

My replacement for it: go to Wal-mart and buy a $4 bicyle inner-tube. Trim off a piece of it about as long as you think you'll need, and install it the same way as the Handall. You get the rubber texture without any of the swells or grooves, and that $4 tube will let you do 20+ grips if you so wish :).

One of the Hogue marketing points id their included palm swell and finger grooves.

So I have to ask, What were you expecting when you decided on the purchase of the Hand-all. For most folks it is a decision between the Hogue (thick) or Pachmayr (thin). BTW: What helps to get them on your gun is if you heat them in hot water before slipping them on...it is mention on the instruction sheet

I went with the Hogue on my Glocks because I found the sides too flat on the Gen 2 G19 and G22. The palm swell filled the cup of my palm and gave me a tactile index of muzzle orientation when shooting one-handed. I tried the inner tube solution and it didn't give me the same index

Well, when I posted this I was pretty mad from installing the dang thing. What a PIA! I hope I didn't hurt my gun by getting it on there. Anyway, after cooling down and picking the pistol up again, its really not too bad. The grip is nice, but the finger grooves feel a little cramped. All in all, I'm pretty happy with it. If I change my mind, I'll(try to) take it off and just use it on something else.

Other Options

If you dont like the HandAll, look into Butler Creeks universal slip on grips, they do have finger grooves, but do not have palm swells, I really like them, I have had them on everything from XDs to the 9mm Sigma, and even my .380 Kel-Tec, they make them in SM, MD, LG, the package says not to modify them but they are easily trimmed with a razor blade, to accomodate various grip lengths.

The HandAll doesnt have much give to it, and I have also had a difficult time getting them on a grip, thats why I now use the Butler Creek slip grips, they have a lot more give and stay snug around the grip.

Love it or hate the only way to find out is to try it. Set it aside you may like it down the road on a different gun. At least they are not very expensive.

I put the one I hated on my range toy Tokarev the palm swell helps here as the grip is pretty thin and twists in my hand without it. Not a perfect fit, but an improvement.

I don't like it or the competitors on most guns - only on the smallest grips.

If you want smooth and thin, the Pachmayr grip sleeve is the best I've tried for those goals.

You're only out $8-9. No big deal.

Get a qwik grip if you don't need finger grooves. I really like mine on my P9.

Some shooters refrain from buying guns that don't feel good in their hand... and thus have never had use for such a product.

Personally, I think any slip on grip looks like hell.

Most either like them or hate them.

I put one on my G19 second gen and it sucked, I took it off immediately.

I put a Handall jr. on my Kel-Tec 3AT (best way is to put it on "upside down", and trim the length, I also superglued it to the grip) and it rocks. Totally made my 3AT a gun I could shoot vs a gun that I could never stand to shoot previously.

I think it depends on the gun and what you expect to get out of it.

Buy a bicycle innertube for $10 and you can make about 15-20 of them. They work better than the handall's and can be cut to fit anything. I have them on most of my handguns and my AR's. They provide a little extra grip without the bulk or finger grooves. If I ever wear one out I can easily and cheaply replace it.

I had one on a glock for about 5 min.
+ 1 on the bike tube have them on 5 pistols cheap and they work.

I put a Hogue Handall on my Glock 17, but never liked it. It was actually loose in a couple of places. Then I tried a Pachmayr Grip Glove, and it's never coming off (unless it's to be replaced with another Grip Glove). IMHO, the Grip Glove is the perfect companion to a Glock 17 Gen3 .

You can also install a sleeve for a tennis racket. They are nice but I think most have little holes in them.

When it comes to slip-on type rubber grips, IMHO, Pachmayr is one of the best. They feel thinner and better than the Hogue slip-ons and they also have four, I believe, different grip sizes to chose from. The Pachmayrs also seem to stay put better and conform/hug better on plastic framed pistol grips (on Glocks, XDs, M&Ps, etc.) than I have found with the Hogue ones. Now when it comes to Hogue's rubber grip panels (both the wrap-around finger groove ones or the non-finger grooves ones) for pistols like Sig P series, Beretta 92FS series, CZ 75B series and 1911s I really enjoy the feel of those. I also like Hogue's rubber finger groove wrap-around grips, the ones made for your specific revolver's frame type, for my S&W and Ruger revolvers.
