I am so excited, I just have to share this with everyone who will listen :)

Ok, I just received a call from Ruger:

I usually never answer 800/888 numbers, but my wife and I are refinancing our auto loan, and my wife had just sent me a text from work concerning that, so I thought it was the bank.

I answered the phone, "Hello?" I received the reply, " Hello, I am trying to reach Nathan." I totally was expecting it to be a banker, "This is Nathan, how can I help you today?"
My customer service skills are still top notch, lol. The conversation continues; "I am from Ruger and the CEO wishes to send you a nice gift but it is a restricted item so I must ask you; are you a citizen of the United States or a legal permanent resident?" I replied, "Yes I am." The Ruger representative said, "thank you for that information, this is in response the message you sent to the CEO; we will get this in the mail for you today," and I replied, "Thank You!"

A few days back I wrote an email to the CEO, if you are not aware you can write a message to the CEO of Ruger on their website, with the promise that the CEO reads every message, but does not respond.

My email was concerning the cost of a [accessory] concerning their SR series of pistols, that their firearms are a great value but a [certain accessory] eats into the value of the firearm.

This is top notch customer service, I am soo excited and "stoked" -- you don't receive service like this anymore, my respect for Ruger just went through the roof.

Now I don't want people to go and abuse or try to replicate what happened to me, so I was intentionally vague.

restricted item? what is restricted other than an actual firearm?

I suppose that is a big hint to the mystery "[accessory], :p. No, they are not sending me a firearm :p, I WISH!!!

ummm maybe ammo?

still very cool. never been a huge ruger supporter due to good ol' bills politics. but their customer service and products have always been superb.

I am not going to lie, I haven't been a supporter either. Being from California and their willing participation with the CA DOJ; I always found myself not liking Ruger much.

However; it is an American made firearm, with amazing customer service; they do put out quality pieces for fair prices.

Maybe I can write the CEO another message asking them to not maximize profits by pandering to "gun safety states."

But, I regress, I love doing business with a company that respects and puts the customer first, (As long as the customer is NOT suffering from the "customer is always right syndrome" -- that's another story.)

Ruger has gained a loyal customer as long as they continue to manufacturer in the U.S.A and have a high level regard toward their customers.

I just had an issue with a brand new SR1911 purchased two days ago. The pistol came with two defective magazines. A call to Ruger Technical Service this morning resulted in two new mags being shipped this afternoon. I can't ask for any better service than that. Their SR1911 is a beautiful made pistol. Can't wait to shoot it this week. I love ruger firearms! :)

I wrote a letter to the CEO about how much my wife enjoyed her LCR, and now we get to go shooting together. He sent us a pair of ruger hats, and some lens covers, and a ruger patch. The hats (one gray one pink) made it obvious he actually read the letter. I was touched.

That's so awesome! Stuff like this makes you feel appreciated. All other manufacturers and/or retailers can learn a good lesson from this: earn the respect of your customers, and return business will come. :p

Yeah I put in an order for an American rifle right after that. $20 worth of stuff and I shell out $350 for a rifle, I would say they are doing something right. Of course I probably would have bought it anyway, the hats just made me think about it less.

I get the feeling lately that they are very well aware of peoples' feeling towards "old Bill" and the current company leadership is actively going out of its way to get a new image out there. Frankly, it looks like they're succeeding.

Just look at the products they've been putting out the last few years. They may be late to the 1911 and AR games, but they're playing. And they are also coming out with new products and targeting markets they haven't before (e.g. concealed carry).

I like the idea of seeing an American company doing what Ruger has been doing as of late. I've heard more than a couple people state they're liking Ruger more and more and S&W less and less.

All that and their stock price has only gone up 500% in the last few years??? :what:Whats up with that???:neener:

I didn't get involved with all the "bills politics" stuff, but i know the Rugers I own are top shelf, and with CS like that, I will remain a very loyal customer!

What "willing participation with the CA DOJ" are you speaking of?

You know - when the DOJ of the seventh-largest economy in the world said "Here's what you must do to sell guns here", Ruger complied. Many others refused. That's why I can't buy a new STI...

So Ruger goes the extra mile to jump through the hoops that the California State government requires in order to put guns in the hands of California residents, and that's reason to be upset with Ruger? Why should the residents of California be penalized because of the attempts by their government to disarm them? Seems to me like that is reason to praise Ruger over those companies that won't go the extra mile in order to put guns in the hands of California residents.

Neat, yeah Ruger's top notch on supporting their customer base. I sent them a suggestion that they produce their own clone of both the 1875 remington and the S&W top break. Both are currently made by Uberti and the only 1875 available in .44 mag sells for $1,400 retail.

They sent me a hat and some really thick revolver related glass stickers. I wasn't expecting anything when I sent the message in, got some free swag anyway.

If this is how Ruger treats their customers: there's a -lot- of other companies in the market which need to take out their collective notepads and pay attention. Then again, i don't recall the last time I heard about Ruger -not- having good customer relations. It's kind of their MO that they seek to please.

It would be nice to receive a new hat from the CEO, but I'm very pleased with my SP 101 I bough 4 months ago, nothing more, nothing LESS. A superb revolver, shoots good, they do make a very well made piece.

I recently emailed the CEO to let him know that I had gone to the store last year to decide between 3 .380's that I had been researching and on impulse bought a LC9 instead, a gun I really knew nothing about at the time and how happy I've been with my choice. In less than a week after sending the email a small box arrived with a Ruger hat and some decals. I'll be honest - that hat made my day!
