I have about over a dozen 500-round bulk packs of .22LR, and I can't seem to go through them fast enough out of my Henry Lever Action 22 so I took this little one home two days ago:
This one included the manual, original case (serial # on case matches), two backstraps (small and large), three front sights of different heights, two magazines, a small pouch with a factory test-fired case, barrel nut wrench, and other small tools. Also included was a key for the internal gun lock, which I swiftly threw in the garbage where it belongs. The hard case, with it's molded foam, is nice enough I think I will actually use it!
From what I gather, this P22 has all the factory revisions: Manufacture code AK, factory test casing pouch shows a date of April '09, and the serial number begins with L (a good thing as well, I believe). The magazines are marked with a "-B" suffix, which are even better than the "-A" revision (they carry all the design improvements from the "-A" but are made with thicker steel).
So far so good. Should work flawlessly. It is also about the same exact size as my Kahr CW9, though the bore of the P22 seems to sit higher above the hand than that of the CW9.
Between yesterday and today, I fired over 1500 rounds through it with no problems. One Federal Wally-World pack (550 rounds, plated HP), one Winchester Xpert plain lead HP (500 rounds), and a Winchester 555-round (copper plated HP). Gun was dirty afterwards but I experienced no failures of any kind, though I was expecting them since people bash the P22 all day long. I'm already impressed, and even more so that it cycles just fine with El Cheapo bulk pack .22LR.
My only complaint? The little pistol ejects spent casings in ALL directions! The wifey gets very turned off by this and I would hate to have this wonderful, fun little gun leave a bad impression on her. This is also a major annoyance for me as I have no other firearm that projects hot pieces of brass so incosistently. The P22 launches them in my face, down my shirt, or bounces them off my head. I would like to correct this problem ASAP so let me know what you guys recommend. I found this aftermarket extractor, anybody have experience with it?: https://www.volquartsen.com/products/542-walther-p22-exact-edge-extractor
Other than erratic ejection, actual function has been 100% and I have no complaints thus far. Looking forward to comments/questions/suggestions.
I apologize for the low pic resolution. Here is the P22 compared to my Kahr CW9, a 1911, and an FAL:
