Well, right after I joined this site, I took off for my job in MT, guiding elk and mule deer hunters and packing.
My Id hunt was sort of hit and miss. Going in cold, I was somewhat at a disadvantage, but I ended up getting plenty out of the hunt. I started out on trail 13, the old Nez Perce ridgeline trail, past Deep Creek, in Idaho's Selway River Wilderness, unit 17. The whole hunt was a backpack affair. I hunted all the way back to the pass. Seen plenty of WT and cows and spikes.
I hunted from Beaverjack mt, to Cayuse mt, to Nez Perce peak to Indian Hill, down to the pass and back. After getting my self thrashed for a whole week, I swapped sides of the road and hunted Roundtop mt, in the fresh 07 burns.

I ended up one day working some dark north side timber and getting into a bedded herd, and shook out a bull, but the combo of poor light, frazzled nerves and too many trees, I couldnt shoot with certainty . Gathering my self, I swung back and around towards a probable route, but never got back onto them.

Over in MT, I guided a guy to a 5x5 bull with his bow. But once gun season arrived, things went downhill pretty quick. A combo of no snow, high winds, warm weather left the elk hunting in pretty sad shape. I did however guide a kid from L.A to his very first kill on his very first hunt to a pretty little 3x3. The next hunt found me hunting with two lousy ass lazy French Canadians, one of who missed two 4x4 mulies, and b oth gave up on a long stalk on another one. Then I guided a 16 girl from W. VA to a 4x3 mulie while her father watched.

So I guess it was ok, but now that I'm able to hunt for myself, I'm hoping for a better season. Gonna try to get a bull in the late season arhcery hunts. How was your guys seasons?
