Saw these in the Tower of London exhibit about the royal armoury. Yes, the cannon in that third pic is over 20 inches in width.

Yeah, I think they were early mortars through they used round cannon-ball projectiles. I'm not really up on my historic artillery, but they were really cool to look at, particularly the massive one.

I always enjoyed going to the Tower of London. I like the crossbows.

Cannonade, not mortar. Same concept, just afloat.
