I've seen quite a bit of aviation threads lately for various reasons.
Just trying to get a feel for those who are here with an aviation background.
I'm an FAA Air Traffic Controller, TRACON (Terminal Radar Approach Control). My background is USMC, 5 years. I was in the ATCT (Air Traffic Control Tower) in Yuma, AZ, back in those days.
Yes, I got to shoot some cool things inculding the MK19, M2, M60, and SAW.

Gotta keep it on topic....so...if you're a commercial pilot, did you volunteer to pack on the flight deck?

i'm not a commercial pilot yet, but working on it. i'm about 1/2 through my IFR rating. only been flying for about a year and a half. its my premier passion, even over guns. i hope they have all this garbage about FFDO's sorted out by the time i get a paying job flying. sicne i'm only a private pilot, i can and do carry on every flgiht.

Flightline Avionics Tech for a certain west coast aircraft manufacturer. Four years USMC (75-79)...helicopters, specifically UH-1Ns and CH-46s. Lots of flight time, some trigger time on Ma Deuce...more fun than a young man ought to be allowed to have! :D

I'm no pilot, but I still carry every day.

In a prior life I did some flying.

C1A- ~ 800 hrs
C2A- ~ 1000 hrs
P3A/B/C Flight Engineer ~ 6000 hrs.

The only thing the Navy ever gave me to shoot was a select fire M14 and a Colt .45. Do you really need anything else?

I started flying fixed wing in 1960 and helicopters in 1964.
USMC Sergeant and Army Warrant Officer Pilot.
Retired almost two years ago from flying helicopters in the Gulf of Mexico.
23,000 hours.
I still fly a PPC (powered parachute) from my place just for the fun of it.:)

I've got a range on the place but the neighbors would probably get a little nervous if I started making strafing runs.:D

I'm a captain on the Airbus 320 for a major US airline.

Now that I have a real income I can start making up for lost gun-buying time.

I probably should order a safe soon... I'm gonna need it. :D

I'm a Private Pilot. Haven't flown in almost 4 years though. I currently work in IT, and with how this career is starting to flounder, I am really looking at getting back into my original career goal of commercial Pilot.

And my gun related comment is I flew an old beater C-150 in a local 'air show' once where I got to do a low fly by, and try to drop a 'flour bomb' into a target area. I missed badly! Had fun trying though!

Corporate/charter pilot for 21 years - now still in aviation in a different capacity- more time off to spend at the range. :)

Tactical aircraft maintenance man here. Crew Chief is a better term though.

Been on the best airplane in the Air Force for the past 18 years.

Im now in Flight safety. An awesome job.

We sold our boat to buy an airplane. I guess some people never learn.

I've got a Commercial Certificate, with an Instrument instructor and multi engine ratings (the instructor stuff is expired now though). My first career choice was commercial pilot, but after a long time of starving as a flight instructor realized that I needed money faster than aviation could get it to me.

It turns out to be a good thing, because were I a pilot now, I'd have pretty low seniority, and would probably have been laid off sometime after 9/11.

When I turned 16 yrs old (35yrs. old now), My father paid for me to get my pilots license. I solo'd and was going through my cross-country when the funds ran out. GGGGRRRRRRRRR......My dad flew the C-130 in Korea and the F4 through Vietnam and the rest of his career.

Twenty plus years as an aircraft mechanic in the military. Last several years spent on the weapons side of the trade ...

I'm not a pilot..........but I was on flight status (crewmember) for 14 years.
US Army. Three years in Nam doing what my handle says.;)

I'm working on my private pilot ticket, with hopes of going commercial.
I have offered to bring a rifle along and shoot coyotes that make runway incursions. But they haven't taken me up on it yet. :D

At Double Eagle Airport, the traffic pattern for runways 22 & 04 takes you over the City shooting range park. When I'm flying, I think; "What a great day to go shooting." and when I'm shooting it's; "What a great day to go flying."

Does half a dozen books on zeppelins count?

How about a couple dozen books on airplanes and a pilgrammage to the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio as well as the RAF museum in Herndon?

I also have a certificate that I flew on the Concorde SST from the British Concorde Fleet Captain. Does that count?

I work for a company that builds airplanes...we make fast little Vipers, and the newfangled Raptor.

In previous jobs, I worked for the Flight Academy of a major airline, and worked for a flight simulator manufacturer. I wrote the software for an Airbus A-320 Flight Management System part-task trainer.

I'm not a pilot, though. Just a guy who likes airplanes.

Speaking of guns, the 20mm GE cannons that they put in aircraft are pretty cool. A little heavy to put in a hunting stand, though.

I'm a CP-ASMEL/IA, but I don't fly that often because I'm about two and a half into an RV6A project. I've got the tail, most of the wings, and most of the fuselage built (I can sit in it! Yay!). I hope to fly it to Oshkosh in 2006, provided I stop spending money on gun toys.

Hmm, EFIS or AR-10? EFIS or AR-10? What to do? :)
