I am looking for any info on this gun please. Born on date, rough value in good condition, opinions. My wife's grandpa just past a few months back and she recently inherited a few guns. One being a 12ga OU.

Markings on left side: Pietro Beretta, founed in 1680, Made in Italy, Silver Snipe 12 Gauge, imprint of 3 arrows in a circle and markings around it

Right side: same as left side

bottom: BERETTA arms ammunition, MONOBLOC, imprint of an Angel holding a big ring

top: factory vent ribbed barrel, chromium molybdenum alloy steel, beretta in 3 circles connected, arms ammunition in an imprint same as on bottom

top barrel: one star

bottom barrel: two stars

serial number: a14628

other guns inherited: ruger new model blackhawk .357 cir.1976, ruger no.1 .270 cir. 1976...

If you remove the barrels, there should be roman numerals on the bottom. If you give us that info we can tell you the year of mfg. Your chokes are full (*) and modified (**). The Silver Snipe was a well built, basic, no frills field gun. Value, depending on condition should be around $700.

That will all depend on the condition of the wood, metal finish, etc.
Many folks find fixed chokes a negative - I do not because I like my guns to have a purpose

The Silver Snipe could have double triggers, a single non-selective trigger or single selective trigger.

It can have extractors of ejectors.

It can have a Vent Rib, Solid Rib or no rib

The mono-block can be either octagonal or rounded.

The ones I've seen most often have a single non-selective trigger, vent rib and extractors, but I've seen them in several configurations.

If you open the action, the model number is usually stamped on the top right side of the receiver, across from the serial number. It would most likely be S.55

A 12 gauge version will go around $700, a nice 20 will bring more.

My 20ga 28" gun weighs 5lb10oz. One of the best bangs for the buck in older upland 0/U gun category. The other contenders are Ted Williams 400 (Olin-Kodensha), Savage 300 series (Valmet) and Charles Daly Field (B.C. Miroku).
