I've been looking at buying one for over 2 years. Nobody I know has one, no local shops have rentals. I am buying on feedback from those who own them, for one, and my recent purchase of a Dan Wesson Pointman 7 (my favorite gun, besides my Springfield M1A). I have held the CZ-75 at a local store, and love the fit.

Any tips?

I got the 40 S&W.

Any owners have any tips for my first outing? Or is it out-of-the-box good?

You're gettin a great gun Steak!!...
All CZs usually come NIB packed in a heavy 'bear-grease' for shipping... As a rule, I never shoot ANY gun NIB without first doing a complete field-strip and thorough cleaning... Hoppes #9 for the barrel, and Breakfree-CLP for the rest of the slide, frame, etc. Alot of shooters have different products they use but I have a bunch of CZs and these two have always worked well for me.
The 75B is not a 'particular' gun re: ammo (it shoots almost anything)... for targeting I usually buy the Winchester White .40S&W at Wal-Mart, works great. For the first shooting, I'd run 50-100 thru, clean it, and you're set.
Enjoy the gun... then start building that CZ collection... P-01 next, then the SP-01.

Just don't start waving it around Sharkeez on the pier. Wait, Sharkeez burned down...

Hey GZOh,
Not really my experience on the heavy "bear-grease". Both my stainless CZ 75B and my CZ 75 SP-01 .40S&W (10mm lite) came heavily oiled but which nevertheless I was able to clean off easily, and afterwards, applied Weapon Shield.
Yes, I too do a complete field-strip and cleaning. I never shoot any firearm without a thorough inspection and I always clean the bore usually finding all sorts of crap.

ParaEleite, did you just say that you have a SP-01 in .40S&W? I was unaware that such a creature exists, but if it does, I want one.

When given the choice between brussels sprouts and asparagus, always choose the brussels sprouts because then at least your pee won't smell like socialism.

You'll love it.
Buy a very nice leather holster for it, if you want to carry it. It deserves good leather.

Also, buy a spring kit from wolf. Their springs are a popular upgrade.
As you become bored with the mind-numbing predictability that is CZ reliability, you'll perhaps want to buy some custom grips, sights, etc.

Check out the CZ forums too, if you haven't.

Pardon the pun, but the CZ75 is one of the few pistols today that is all steak and very little sizzle.

In the manual it states to "Use the base of a mag to press the take doen pin out." It WILL:cuss: scratch the frame. Use a Bic lighter, or a wooden dowel.

Any tips?

CZ Custom Shop grips.

Prepare to lose your wallet. Once you buy a CZ, they multiply. My CZ 75 is still my favorite gun. I'd buy a few more if I had the cash. I've never fired them in .40 S&W, but they're tack drivers with the best ergonomics of any gun I've shot. It's my wife's favorite gun, too. Shoots like butter. BTW, I use my finger to push the slide stop out, not a magazine base plate.

Just got mine today, last one in the whole state I bet. I called every gunstore within 50 miles, found ONE p01 and one sp01, I got the sp01, jacked to 599.

JaxNovice, Sharkeez DID burn down, but it is back. Twice as big, and does not resemble its former self. Gone are the surfboards and straw on the floor. Its chic now. LCD TV's all over, sometimes even a dress code. Sharkeez Hula Hut? No longer.

Anyway, thanks for the tips guys. I have wanted a CZ-75 for awhile. They are already pinching my wallet, since my recent PM7 purchase. I have already bought 4 different types of ammo to see which she likes best. Hopefully it will be the Sellier and Bellot for practice ammo. Native fare for the Czech pistol, and a great price (some of the most accurate ammo for my other pistol).

I am already looking into custom grips (I want wood, not into the plastic or rubber). The only ones I am finding are pushing $100. Any good tips where to get nice wood grips (not fully checkered) for a more reasonable price?

Nook-Availability for everything is unreal right now. These things have been everywhere for the 2 years I have been considering one. Now, it took days to find one, with only 2 in stock from one of the largest distributors. hopefully this will settle down soon. Only wish I was in a state where I could get an AR. It is probably a bit over-exaggerated since the King has not even been crowned as of yet, and it is far fetched that he will go after guns first (though he will get there). Planning on a move to Idaho late next year, or earlier if I find a good job. Hopefully we will still be a free nation by that time, and I can get all the tools I cannot get in Cali.

BTW, even though the CZ pistol bug has hit me, my next firearm will be a CZ 550 in .308, unless of course my wife digs the new pistol, which means she will get a nice compact for christmas. I can have hope, right? RAMI in 9mm for the lovely lady?

I'm newer to pistols, I was a rifle guy until recently. Well I guess these days I'm just a gun nut, with all that brings.

:) Welcome to the crowd! The only things I would suggest is some Hakan Pek grips, or Crimson Trace Lasergrips, and a holster from PCRCCW, aka Eric, right here on this forum, selling as HBE Specialty Leatherworks.

Enjoy!

I got the 40 S&W.

Excellent choice, I have one. Super accurate and easy to aim and follow up. No failures at all. Run a box of S&B through it first to ‘break it in,’ great ammo. :D;)
