Wife and I haven't even got our 2nd stimulus checks yet, but our accountant says he will claim it as a "credit" (whatever that means) on our 2020 income tax return. I can't think of a better way of spending it and the next stimulus payment other than for supporting a pro 2A organization, and to help pay for the new .257 Weatherby I've been hankering for. I spent part of our 1st stimulus check on my wife's birthday gift last year - a Ruger "American Rimfire" .22LR and Leupold 4X scope.

And this is how it begins... with the populace getting used to, and expecting, handouts from the federal government.

Had we qualified for one of these payments, I most assuredly would've turned over the money in its entirety to my favored gun rights organizations, and/or a charitable cause.

I understand that there are undoubtedly a lot of members here in financial straits due to the pandemic or other reasons, whose families can certainly use the added income, but to celebrate our government's follies by looking forward to spending this free money on stuff (not in dire need of by the family) makes me wonder.

I agree with you that we shouldn't celebrate our government's follies. Besides, doing it would take up too much of our time ( :p ). But since we cannot really stop them we might as well use the $$$ toward some pro gun rights groups. It's delicious thinking what Pelosi, Shumer, AOC, and other lefties would think of it! Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!!!

I never thought a thread on the stimulus would go political here. :neener:

There are plenty of people who have no way to make ends meet directly because of the pandemic. I think it's pretty harsh to conflate laid off working people with stereotypes. My immediate family is lucky because we don't qualify for the stimulus, and I plan to spend on something to stimulate the economy because I can, and will enjoy doing it (maybe a Python). My extended family has plenty of essentially working poor, and you can bet they could use the money. Well off people tend to save, poor people tend to spend. That's the point, to get the economy and jobs moving again.

I wish your extended family well. $1400 doesn't go very far these days and Uncle Sugar AKA the govt. is 30 trillion dollars in the hole as it is.
As for getting the economy going again, ending the foolish lock-downs and getting people (even the underpaid poor) back to work will do more than tossing money at an economy that is not producing. That kills the value of the dollar.

WWSD....
What Would Stoner Do?

Well, one thing he'd likely do is integrate some damn iron sights.

Seems kind of pandering to invoke Stoner's name in an implication that his vision is being advanced.

OK - enough micro-rant - back to stimulating the economy....

OUTSTANDING!

Todd.

I am against stimulus in general, but if they are going to waste trillions then the direct payments are probably the best way. I believe everyone should receive it or no one.

They were spending that money anyway, as evidenced from the pork in the bill, at least I should get some of my tax money back.

The first stimulus was actually useful for us as the lockdowns mandated by the government cut our hours way back and ate a good chunk of our savings, but we're doing good now.

So a bigger generator, and a lot of money to 2A orgs (and that dogs surgery)

The pandemic didn’t hurt the bride and I, retired living on fixed incomes, albeit comfortably, I too don’t feel as if I’ve “earned” the windfall. Having said that the thought of donating it never occurred to me. The first two of mine went into the “extras” living on fixed incomes don’t allow,(like additional guns). The brides went into an account set aside to off set loss of income when one of us passes. JMO.

I have mixed feelings. Being $30 trillion in debt I don't like, and adding another $2T to that debt isn't good. On the other hand our government has been giving away money for 50-60 years. The poor get help, and I'm not opposed to helping those in need. But the tax cuts for the wealthy bothers me. There are a lot of people out there with 7 digit incomes paying less in taxes than I pay with my 5 digit income. Especially the last 10-12 years. Since the kids are grown and the house is paid off I have ZERO tax deductions.

I'm 63 and for the 1st time in my life I'm able to take advantage of a government assistance program. If they're giving it away anyway it's good to see the common working guy get a little of it. I can assure you I've paid a LOT more over my lifetime than my wife and I will get from this.

What am I doing with mine. With the 3 stimulus checks combined for my wife and I together, along with a pretty decent income tax refund this year and the money from an older car I just sold it went a long way toward paying for this. Wrote the check today, pick it up Tuesday. And yes this is gun related. This is specifically designed to be used on rough roads, in the back country, and is insulated for cold weather. My new hunting/fishing camp rig.

Not my actual trailer, just stock photos I found online.

I would of bought one if they stuck with the 14.5” P&W barrel with the shorter handguard, That was an epic package
That was a larger decision, part of being able to sell through Brownell's Europe.
Also, so many AR buyers want their super-duper special louper muzzle device, it was simpler to just get the threaded 16" barrels, and put an A2 FH on it as "stock."
There was some thought given to keeping the shorter handguard, but the 'look' was retained as the change in length was less than 2oz in weight overall, and then balance point stayed put.
