Just threatened by a biker dude..

The machine itself is actually pretty capable. Its just that the sort of riders that are attracted to it dont seem to like riding very much.

Here is vid of a couple of GL1800s piloted by capable riders through Deal's Gap http://media.putfile.com/Riding-the-Dragon-Part-One They are pretty notorious for burning down amature boy racers with their old man bikes.

This last week, I finally got around two GW riders as we got to the base of a mountain. I left them behind, never saw them again after three turns.

It's not necessarily the bike or the age of the rider, I have smoked many a young pup riding a Duk or a Gixer on the twisties. My old R100 is no race bike with it's 65 HP, bags and faring, I can just be very agressive sometimes. Since I have been riding for 35 of my 45 years and know how to exploit the strengths and weaknesses of my 30 year old bike. There are times when have the urge to drag a knee and grind my engine bar or the pavement and times when I just put along and look at the scenery.

Yeah Smith I know, it's the indian not the arrow. But I was in an F-150. If they had gone any slower they woulda fallen over. Got stuck behind some Harley bikes this weekend going the other way over the same mountain, truck was running better, they at least did the speed limit, but I was still able to keep up.

Pathetic Goldwing update. I was heading up the road this weekend and I see a gold Lincoln Towncar. Trailering a matching gold Goldwing. Going 50 on a 65mph interstate. The real kicker? The Harley sticker on the rear window of the car!

Coming to this one pretty late.

Shooting on your own property---no one can say anything----our "biker" friend could have been shot for tresspassing.

Current bike is an 05 Suzuki Bandit 1200--nothing special or eye catching----but about the wildest ride you can take from 0 to 100---white knuckles abound. After about 100mph the racers will pull away with their higher horsepower---but my bike was built for torque---so up to 100 there's not much--if anything---that will touch it.

As to leathers---I wear a Fox Creek Leather---Racing Jacket---the thing weighs 10 pounds--literally.

If you're in the market they REALLY deserve a look:
http://www.foxcreekleather.com/

CCW---is either the inner pocket of the jacket---or in a backpack strapped to the rear part of the seat.

Loud pipes???---I have a Muzzy slip-on just waiting in the garage for when I can afford a jet kit and labor----but my recent trips to KS(500 miles round trip in a day) have me rethinking that because the bike is getting 50mpg on the hiway with the stock pipe and carbs. I was blown away by the mileage---I had to baby my old Kawasaki 600 to even come close to that---the 1200 I just ride with no reguard to rpm's or riding for gas mileage and still get 50mpg.

Rugerfreak...

First off, as I understand it, the Honda rider was on a public road. Secondly, where in these grand United States can you legaly shoot a man for trespassing?

Just curious.

Biker

Texas.
You can use deadly force on trespassers after dark.

§ 9.42. DEADLY FORCE TO PROTECT PROPERTY. A person is
justified in using deadly force against another to protect land or
tangible, movable property:
(1) if he would be justified in using force against the
other under Section 9.41; and
(2) when and to the degree he reasonably believes the
deadly force is immediately necessary:
(A) to prevent the other's imminent commission of
arson, burglary, robbery, aggravated robbery, theft during the
nighttime, or criminal mischief during the nighttime; or
(B) to prevent the other who is fleeing
immediately after committing burglary, robbery, aggravated
robbery, or theft during the nighttime from escaping with the
property; and
(3) he reasonably believes that:
(A) the land or property cannot be protected or
recovered by any other means; or
(B) the use of force other than deadly force to
protect or recover the land or property would expose the actor or
another to a substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury.

Acts 1973, 63rd Leg., p. 883, ch. 399, § 1, eff. Jan. 1, 1974.
Amended by Acts 1993, 73rd Leg., ch. 900, § 1.01, eff. Sept. 1,
1994.

That's all well and fine, hoji, but I fail to see anything in your post that says a man can get legally greased for simply stepping foot on another man's property whether it be day or night.

Biker

Oops. Meant to post PC 9.41.

Here ya go.

§ 9.41. PROTECTION OF ONE'S OWN PROPERTY. (a) A person in
lawful possession of land or tangible, movable property is
justified in using force against another when and to the degree the
actor reasonably believes the force is immediately necessary to
prevent or terminate the other's trespass on the land or unlawful
interference with the property.

Sorry Friend, you can't shoot a man for simply being on your property according that statute. Methinks you're stretching a bit. I'd say that you have to tell him to leave first, bare minimum. Course, IANAL.

Biker

Read 9.41 in conjunction with 9.42.

It has been interpreted, through the courts, that it indeed means you can shoot trespassers at night. It is archaic but it is a very big deterrent{ Mostly to guys that do auto repossessions:) }

Could be you're right, but I'd hate to have to defend myself in court for shooting a man who just happened to be on my property.
I really don't know how to interpret this. Guess I'll have to take your word for it.:)

Biker

I actually teach my students that just because you can do something legally, does not mean you should do it.
I would not use deadly force on a trespasser either, but under Texas Law, you can.

I'm all for defending my property but I seriously doubt the original poster is sorry he didn't grease the GW rider. I think people are taking the 'stand your ground' law a little far and it makes all gun owners sound like a bunch of bloodthirsty savages when we talk about smoking someone for stepping on our property and doing something we don't like.
Remember these laws can be taken away too if we give the antis enough ammo.

Alright... enough with bashing on the 'Wing riders. I'm stuck with a '76 'Wing who's previous owner was a retard (lots of the local MC members, when they have everything done to it explained, want me to enter it in bike shows under "best jury-rig")...

Right now, I'm thinking of stepping up to a Beemer when finances allow. We'll see...

You want to know something about me? I have a Harley Davidson Sportster and I am trying to find a way to make it quieter. I think it's embarressing having everyone look at me when riding by. Not really as loud as them other Harleys, but is too loud for my tastes. And keep in mind i'm completly deaf in one ear and partially in the other and yet i'm complaining about the loudness.

You consider Goldwing riders biker dudes? Funny.

Loud noises do scare the crap out of you on a bike. Guy sounds like a moron though acting as if you did it on purpose. Hope you had a good laugh.

Passing out threats to a land owner? I'd not shoot him for what he did but it's good cause to think it will be needed in the very near future.

Hi all...

I used to ride a 1976 Suzuki Enduro 400 back and forth to work, (single cylinder 2 stroke, idled like a barrel full of rocks) but the gas mileage was great. I pulled up at a stop light next to a Honda 750 paying no mind cause I was heading for the shop. When the light turned I rolled out but my hand slipped on the clutch and with the clutch now fully engaged in my suprise I proceeded to crank the throttle... walked it on the rear tire for approx 30 yds before I got it fully under control. That 400 had one hell of a power band with good torque! I pulled over a few blocks down to gather my wits and the Honda pulled in behind me, he wanted to know what kind of engine I had! This was in Phoenix in 82.

I lived next to some bikers for a while and found them to be a pretty good bunch of people, I walked in to a Circle-K to buy some beer on my way to a friends house I was carrying my .45 Combat Commander in satin nickle. At the magazine rack was this Big biker type packing what looked like an S&W Model 29 .44 6", as I walked up to the counter to pay he looked over at me, looked me up and down, spotted the .45 and a big grin broke out on his face, he gave me the thumbs up and I returned the favor. For some reason people are much more civil to each other when they are carrying.

Oh yeah, I cant believe no one caught this from an earlier posting in this thread:

"shes a quality gal loves to shoot and has already told me that my high power is no longer mine...."

Which High Power would that be? The double action auto or the... Oh never mind

Yeah.... I had no intentions of whacking a guy simply because he was acting like an ass.... should he have threatened me with deadly force I would've gladly returned the favor in kind.

I think that situation is represenative of the carry mindset. I'm a bit of a hothead when some jerk is messing with me like that, but being armed and knowing that Mr. Attitude could do me no harm makes you shrug it off completely.

:neener: the 9mm one......

haha

this was funny.

I'm should shove that gun up your arse....

"you should try it" .....

That's the line I'll be using.

Stupidity and ill-placed bravado are almost always entertaining aren't they.
Threatening a guy with a gun with violence, now that's Darwin worthy right there.
