I was looking for a modern rifle ( I'm a traditional black powder guy ) for short range hunting of deer, black bear and elk. Where I live 150 yards is a long shot and 75 yards or less is the norm.
After looking around a bit ,I traded for a CZ 557 carbine in .30-06.
I really like the fit and finish of my carbine. No gaps or fillers in the wood. The matte blue is pleasing to my eye. The sights align quickly and a thick factory recoil pad rounds things out.
After sighting the carbine in, I went for a hike where I hunt. Toting the carbine along old logging roads or in the brushy woodline was very comfortable.
The sights were easy to see in sunlit areas or the dark of the woods.
Felt recoil was not bad, thanks to the recoil pad, load ( Remington 165 grain core-lokts ) and the fact that the carbine fits me well.
I was able to keep 3 of 4 shots touching , near the center, within a 3 inch circle offhand at 50 yards.
Overall I'm very happy with my new rifle.
