Here's a shot of my new SKS Carbine- a Para-Norinco model (7.62x39mm, of course). I shot it yesterday, and I like it a lot- nice recoil, loads of fun, and accuracy you'd expect of an SKS- about 1" at 25 yards. Only problem was that it was shooting about 6" low at 25 yards, with the sights set to the lowest setting. How do I adjust the sights to hit POA?

Oh, and the only other problem was that I had to pay $5 per box for WOLF at the local gunshop  . Gotta order some in bulk...

Oh, and it handles quite nicely, and weighs about 7.5lbs with a 16" barrel, OAL right at 36" long- IMHO, what the SKS should've been in the first place. Trigger sucks, though.

Nate the front sight screws in and can be adjusted up or down for elevation. In your case bring the front sight up and set the rear for 100 yards and shoot some 3 round groups.

Nate,

I loved my Para, and I'm a little sorry I parted with it when I joined the army. Buy a Mojo sight (http://www.mojosights.com/ak47_sks.html), and I think you'll be a lot happier with your ability to hit stuff. I mounted two of these sights on SARs recently. (39.95 ea, shipped)

I also mounted a 20 round fixed mag on my Para. It doesn't add much bulk, and
I think it makes a great compromise between too little (10 rounders) and cumbersome.

I think that if his gun is shooting low, then that front sight needs to come down a bit. If it were raised, it would shoot even lower. If that front sight is adjustable, no problem. If not, you could either buy an adjustable replacement or just file it down. But I would be pretty sure about things before I set to work with a file.

Ouch,
I was wrong the front sight has to come down. He should be able to screw it in a bit with the adjustment tool.

Nice natedog! The Para has always been one of my favorite SKS variants, but I didn't grab one while they were cheap.

Lucky! I remember when these were $89 at gunshows and I didn't know anything about them at the time. All I knew was that they were some Chinese rifle that I thought must be junk if they were selling them that cheap. What an idiot I was. If I could go back in time, I would have bought a case or two of these nice carbines. IMHO, they are just as good as the Ruger Ranch rifle in 7.62x39mm. The full sized SKSs are nice as well but they are heavy and big.

Yeah look for a sight tool. They're like $10 or less.

$5 for wolf? wow. Even at Turners it's $4 a box. The guy I go to in Ridgecrest (close to you in Bakersfield) sells Wolf ammo for $2.25 a box.

I want a Para.
