I cut out of work early this past Friday and went to my range. I grabbed my gun stash $$ "just in case" there was something that I had to have.

I was looking through the display cases and there she was, a S&W 17-3 K22 Masterpiece for sale on consignment.
I've always wanted one, but I've never found the "right" one, until now :)

What a beautiful gun. Now I know why S&W called these the "K22 Masterpiece"
The blueing is perfect with only a few very minor issues. The grips are original with the serial # of the gun on the inside. According to the serial #, it was made in 1969. The box and paperwork is in good condition considering that it's almost 40 years old!

Friday was a very good day! :D

Saw one in my gun shop on Friday as well but it was very rough and I just didn't think it was worth the asking price. Would love to find one like you did, how much if you don't mind my asking?

$370.00 out the door ($320 for the gun)
I thought it was a good deal. I've seen them from $300. - $500.
How much was the one that you were looking at?

They had it at $299 and it was nowhere near the gun you bought. They're just hard to find so the price stays high...

Atually, they're not hard to find; since the K-22, the model 17, and their predecessors were generally excellent guns, however, and they're in high demand, prices remain high. It took me twenty years to find the right pre-K-22 at the right price.

Beautiful!

The real beauty will become apparent when you load it up and fire it for the first time. Chances are, you will wonder why you waited so long. I know I did!

That was way beyond an excellant buy. It was bordering on fantastic, especially when you consider the condition and getting the box and paperwork.

In my part of the woods these are getting very hard to come by.

Very well done; a great gun, in great condition, and at a very reasonable price.

Ya know, some fellers can walk across a pasture and all they find is flowers, me all I git is dirty boots!!!

Ya done picked a rose with that one.. Verrrry nice!!

Excellent price. I would have snatched it up myself even though I have absolutely no need for it, except "because". I bought one last September for $550 as I recall. You did good.

IMHO, the absolutely best .22 target revolver ever made, bar none.

Jim

Great Deal, Great Gun.
I shoot my K-22 more than any any gun I have. Very few range trips don't include the K-22.

Thanks for all of the great comments! :) (Iggy - thats funny LOL)
I don't always get lucky like that, but I'm still grinning after four days about this find :D

I know this gun will be getting a workout. The high cost of ammo (9mm,40S&W, and .45acp) will see to that. My Sigs will finally get a break.
I shot her friday after I bought her. My first two shots were Xs at ten yards (I know - this gun was made to shoot at 25 yards). I'll work my way out to 25 yards.
I can't wait to get her back to the range. I think I'll take off and save the original grips so I don't accidently damage them. I'll keep my eye out for a set of Hogues or used S&W target grips.

Wow! I have no doubt that pistol would sell right now for $899 to $999 in my area. You absolutely cannot find one of those, in any condition, for any price, in my area.

That is absolutely a fantastic deal! Good luck!
