K31 ID Tag

Hello all,

I've had a Swiss K31 for almost a year. Luckily, the tag was intact under the buttplate. I would like to track down the original owner, assuming he is sill living, or his decendants. Does anyone have any knowledge of resources to do this - links to swiss phone books or other appropriate resouces, etc.? Has anyone on THR done this? Thanks.

Many people there have had great sucess in decoding the tags and there are a fair amount of stories of people getting in touch with relatives of former owners, and even the actual owners themselves. Very interesting stuff!

I absolutely LOVE my K31 but have yet to do any sleuthing on the tag. Your post has got me thinking about it again.

Thanks. I appreciate the feedback. I the original owner is still around, i would like to send him some pictures and let him know his rifle is in good hands.
