I just got back from the mailbox. The January American Rifleman was waiting for me with an article I could only have dreamed to find. Kahr now has a true .45 ACP for sale, the P45.

Who will be the first to obtain one of these and post a range report?

I saw that article, too. Haven't seen the gun in stores yet though. I'm interested to see if they all have messed up metal on the slide around the guide-rod like the one pictured. The article makes them sound pretty nice otherwise.

I have seen the P45 in person. It's nice, but dang is it big for a Kahr.

Yeah, but the .45 ACP is also "big for a Kahr." Compared to other pistols chambered for that round, how does it stack up in size? Compared to a 1911, how thin is it? That's what makes a difference to me, the thickness. Just looking at the pictures of the gentleman in the article drawing it from a coat pocket, it appears to be very concealable.

seansean - THANKS for that link! I was hoping to read a range report and I had not seen that one. I appreciate you for posting that! ;)

I played with one a couple weekends ago and now I want one! :D Downside, so far it's not CA approved :banghead:

Its about the size of a Glock 36, but more expensive. I handled one and personally did not like the rough checkering of the polymer on the front and back of the grip.

no problem at all, I was thinking of getting one myself, but as has been posted, they aren't cali legal. Now I'm looking at the bersa thunder .45, which is cali legal, and a few hundred bucks cheaper..

The Kahr P45 is lighter, thinner and shorter than the Glock 36:

Glock 36
Length: 6.77"
Width: 1.13"
Height: 4.76"
Weight: 20.11 oz., magazine 2.4 oz.

Kahr P45
Length: 6.33"
Width: 1.01"
Height: 4.8"
Weight: 18.5 oz., magazine 2 oz.

The Kahr P45 magazines are also thinner than the Glock 36 magazines. They are like single stack 1911 .45 magazines.

Saw one at the gun show for $540 ish. The size was nice for an IWB gun. However, I agree that the grip was a tad rough. The mold for the polymer needs some work.

Pretty close I'd say, and the Glock is shorter in height! lol

Other than a little extra thickness and a bit more height, you'd be hard pressed to tell it from a P40 in overall size.

I was pretty impressed.
