The standard consensus on Kahrtalk.com is to put on a pair of work gloves, remove the mag, and hand rack the slide a couple hundred times.Just picked up a kahr cm9, I've never had a pistol that was so hard to rack the slide. I can see why they recommend shooting a couple hundred rounds to break it in. Hoping to get out & shoot it this weekend.
I picked up a used one a couple years ago. I think a prior owner or owners had worked through the break in period. It's never bobbled with anything I've shot through it.Just picked up a kahr cm9, I've never had a pistol that was so hard to rack the slide. Now I have to look, didn't realize they were scarce or expensiveI picked up a used one a couple years ago. I think a prior owner or owners had worked through the break in period. It's never bobbled with anything I've shot through it.
It seems fairly easy to shoot.
Good luck finding extra magazines at a reasonable price.
Not hard to find, but expensive. Now I have to look, didn't realize they were scarce or expensive

Saves on break-in ammo.

500 times? I'll have to start working outI did almost everything that Jocko on KahrTalk recommends doing for break in.
Proper prep of a new kahr
Here are some helpful suggestions to set your new kahr up before heading to the range as compiled by Jocko, with the help of the forum members. I cleaned the CM9, including using non-chlorinated brake cleaner in the striker channel. The brake cleaner partially erased the paint on the rear sight. I went to Hobby Lobby and bought Testers Bright White paint and repainted the rear site with a toothpick.
I manually cycled the slide 500 times. Yes I actually manually cycled the slide 500 times.
I did have an instance on my first time out with the gun where the slide didn't lock back on the last round but it was because my thumb was pressing down on the slide stop. Other than that, I have not had any problems to feed, fire, eject or return fully to battery.

Too, a spare magazine tended to shed its top round.
Now that is clever. Are FMJs any easier (more forgiving) to chamber than HPs?I now carry a FMJ as the top round..
