i was at the store yesterday and saw one of these for around $400. Was wondering if there is anything bad about these handguns? I have been looking to get a new gun for concealed carry and this seems like it may be a good choice for me. I was also looking at glock 26 and 27 which were about 150 more then the kahr. Anyone here own both a Kahr CW 40 and sub compact glock who could give me some insight into the differences in carrying them would be great.

cw40

is a good gun but be prepared for alot of recoil. That is the litest 40 cal out there and you will know it to. Other than that kahrs are escellent guns, conceal great but the 40 cal is probaboy the most unpopular caliber in their polymer line, due to recoil.

Guys that have the all stell 40 cal kahrs love um..

Reliability wise your ok, darn good gun. My prefereenceis the kahr PM9..

I really like my CW40. It's been 100% reliable and is very concealable. i don't find the recoil to be abusive at all. Just be sure that when you're reassembling it the slide stop passes under the slide stop spring.

i ended up buying the Glock 26. the feel in my hands just felt right. I also checked out the m&p compact in 9mm. I just think the shortness of the Glock 26 grip is going to be very beneficial in making it easy to conceal. Of course i have been unable to find any 9mm after going to 4 stores since buying the Glock. 40 on the other hand has been readily available every where i went....

yup

our local small walmart has 40 cal ammo but no 9mm and 380 and 45.

A CW seris is fine if you like the stock sights, because that is what you will be limited to. I know of no night sights that have two pins staked through holes in the slide, as this series does. (K and P series have dovetail-slotted front sights.) Also, it only comes with one magazine. Any carry gun should be accompanied by at least one reload. New mags run about $35-$40.

Just strikes me as very odd that some after market sight company has not come out with a staked front sight for hte cw series kahrs. They sell thousands of them and all cw front sites are the same.

I do know the cw series has two holes in the slide(as Lone haranguer stated) where as the glock sight has one,so changing to the glock front sight will leave part of the other hole showing on the cw series.

be ready for alot of recoil. My range had a CW9 and CW40. i figured i would rent the CW40 because if i just rented the CW9 i might be left wondering what the CW40 was like. The CW40 has a good amount of recoil since the gun only weighs like 15oz unloaded. i would say its comparable to shooting a snub nose .357mag using medium powered loads. It wont put a knot in your hand after 5 shots like my buddies S&W 340PD airweight but might prove to be uncomfortable and you might start pulling your shots.

I went with the CW9 and loved every bit of it. It was stolen from my vehicle a couple months ago. But im going to buy another one here shortly because you can easily conceal it wearing shorts and a tshirt.

i tried both the CW9 and CW40 before going with the CW9. it was just more controlable in recoil...i just select good ammo to run through it.

1. the size is great
2. points very well
3. trigger stroke is smooth and light...but very long

sometimes i wish i had gone with the P series just for the option of changing sights...i knew about the single mag and the conventional rifling when i bought it

Enjoy your G26! I went through the same buying decisions prior to purchasing my Glock. I shot 4 boxes through it today. It's a great pistol. The short grip seems so normal to me now. I find the recoil enjoyable with the 26 due to the fat frame. I fired my little LCP today and it hurt my hand a bit. It feels like a 45 in comparison to the Glock. I may have to own a KAHR someday soon. They are really nice.

i'm sure i will enjoy it! Thanks for the good wishes! finally found some ammo today WWB 115 gr JHP picked up 2 boxes of 50, planning on hitting the range tomorrow. I know its off topic but anybody have an opinion on using this as SD ammo? Its certainly cheaper then other JHP i have seen. I paid 19.99 a box of 50 i thought that was pretty reasonable. Makes it a lot more realistic to get some good practice in with it at that price..

If

I owned a CW40 I would indeed magna port it. No doubt in my mind, I bet then it would be one hell of a shooter to.

I just got one of these for free!!!! My buddy went downrange and gave it to me,without me asking even, just to keep his truck at my house for a year. Good stuff.

Anyways, yes the recoil is "sharp" but I love the sights as they line up fast. I am sure this has to do with the ergos of the pistol as well. It's really accurate too for such a small gun.

On a related note, does anyone want to swap an extended 7rd mag for a flush-fitting 6 rounder? It is an official Kahr mag. He gave me two of the big ones but they are a bit harder to conceal and the one that came with the gun originally broke.

obviously as everyone has stated it may recoil....just a little...if your looking for a 40 though, its not a bad choice though i wound up going with the Glock27 myself. i do own a Kahr PM9 though and it may be the best carry gun ever.....
