I have a LCP on order and I curently carry a taurus mod 85 unltra lite but I really want a slim 9 mm for carry.
I don't know if I could trust the KAHR after reading so many bad reviews.I't looks like you have a 60 % chance on getting a good one and thats not very good odd's

I men't buy the cw-9 not but the cw-9.I could not edit this

I've owned a K9, CW9, and a PM9. All have been perfect out of the box. The real horror stories seem to be concerned with earlier models for the most part.

CW9 was just slightly larger than I could carry in my pocket. A little heavier than the PF9 by Keltec, but otherwise about the same size. The CW9 impressed me so much though I picked up PM9 and have been extremely pleased with it's accuracy and reliability. I avoided Kahrs for awhile because of the price, but they are worth every penny as far as I'm concerned.

I have the CW 40 and the only thing I wish I did different was get the CW 9 instead :) Mine has been flawless.

i bought a cw9 around march of '08. Its been 100% since then, even during the break in period. mine has ~500rds through her.

If you get a bad one out of the box, Kahr will make it right. My CW9 had a defective frame, didn't make it through half a box, initially, but its been about 100% since its return. I got mine to shoot 9mm lead reloads as cheap practice analog for the PM40 I usually carry.

Basically I shoot 50 rounds of hard cast lead reloads (147gr 3.7gr Unique) and 5 rounds of 115 gr FMJ (Wolf or Blazer) every week, wipe it down put in safe until next week and repeat until I start getting failures to go into battery at which point I take it down and clean. Only need to do this about every four months or so. I figure the gun has paid for itself already in ammo savings shooting the cheapest 9mm vs the cheapest .40S&W, payback was quicker still since I shoot mostly lead reloads in it.

I have to clean the mags when I start getting nose dives into the feed ramp. I recently replaced the recoil spring again too. Just normal maintainence for a high use pistol.

My brother-in-law has one, and while his is reliable, he's having a little trouble with the recoil and muzzle blast.. It may sound counter-intuitive, but try some premium 147gr JHP SD ammo as the muzzle blast is greatly reduced over the lighter premium JHP rounds.

My other most common carry is a S&W SC360 .357Mag loaded with 158gr JHP -- if I need it how much my hand might hurt afterwards is the least of my worries. This at 15.5 oz fully loaded make the CW9 and PM40 real pussycats :) I practice with an all steel 2" .357Mag pistol as its analog, I'm not a masochist.

His gun is not going fully into battery. Check the ammo, clean the gun, send it back to Kahr if necessary. Its a solid design with no propensity to fire out of battery when FOD or bad ammo prevents it, like some blocks we're familiar with :)

This is exactly when I know its time to take mine down for a thorough cleaning, I'd never let a carry gun go anywhere near this far, but the fact my CW9 is not super sensitive to fouling increases my confidence in my PM40 which is cleaned after every time its shot to refresh the carry ammo.

I got rid of two Model 85s to get a CW9. Mine has been perfect even through the break-in period. Liked it so much, I got the CW45. It is even more accurate than the 9mm. The CW45 was used with unknown rounds through it and it has been 100%, also. Best carry guns I have found.

cw9

don't own the cw9 but own the pm9 and it has been flawless right out ofthe box, also have a used k9 that is also flawless. Kahr tells me that the cw9 is their biggest seller by far. A great gun IMO. You will always read about all the bad issues on a gun, but most of the time those please just do not post their positive results. All guns will can give issues, , fyou get a kahr or whatever and it acts up, send it back the companies will make it right. Give the company that one chance to make it right, after that peddle it and move on. MY POS PM9 has 13,400 flawless rounds through it. need I say more..

I voted for a higher grade Kahr. If you think you might want night sights at some future date, you cannot add them to a CW; you will want a P instead. Although it is heavier because it is all steel, the K is more pleasant to shoot.

While it is bigger than a Kahr, I am also partial to the S&W 3913 and similar models.

I've owned a Kahr K9 for over a year and loved it so much I bought a CW9 two weeks ago.

First range trip was last Wednesday. No malfunctions in 200+ rounds (thank you Uplula :D). It is now my carry gun.

This was my first polymer handgun. It won't be my last. I'm currently shopping for my next gun- a PM9 !

I too, have a CW9............owned it now for a year, 800 rounds through it, no problems. I'm seven decades old with a touch of "rhumatism" so don't shoot it a lot. Recently purchased a Crossbreed Supertuck to pack it in and it works wonders as a cc. The CBST and CW9 are a great marriage for great concealment for summer wear. I sometimes forget that I am "toting". Yeah, I know.....at 70 I probably forget a lot of things!!!!!

+1

I even regretted skimping on my P.M. Had I went with a D.L.C.'d P9 with N.S. it would have been over $600 instead of under $500 N.I.B., but I'd probably still have it had I splurged. I'm just not a fan of the dot-the-i sights and never warmed up to two-tone, but that's all personal preference (and the similar Big Dot X.S. style are all the rage now) so Y.M.M.V.

With the C.W. series you are stuck with those sights and no polygonal rifling, but who cares about only one mag and finishing on the slide? Not me. It's still a N.I.B. Kahr for only $35o, and about P9 length. B.T.W. the "60% chance of getting a good one" you see on the internet is mostly people posting/voting what they've read over and over in a self propagating cycle I.M.O. so go for it!

jlk2600. Your last sentence tells it all.

Alot of negative nanny posters who never even owned a kahr but just like to pass on what they heard over the dealers counter or right from the mouth of LEO's whom we all know to, who feel they are complete authorities. buy what you want, if it gives issues, let the mfg-er have it back at least once to make it right, After than, peddle it and move on.Lots of great guns out there, IMO the entire kahr line is in that class to,but to say a kahr never gives issues is to have one's head in the sand or "somewhere" else..

I got my CW9 from Bud's a few months ago and have put several hundred rounds through it without a single problem. I'd recommend one to anybody looking for a quality, reliable, carry piece.
But, although I own one, I'm a LEO so don't listen to me, I have no idea what I'm taking about and I'm just trying to pass myself off as an authority on the subject.:scrutiny:

FWIW...I started out carrying a PPK/s. Then the local gunshop got in one of the (back then) just-released Kahr K40's. Wow, a .40 s&w in (almost) the same sized package as the PPK .380. I traded that very afternoon and have never regretted it. That was in 1997 and I have carried it daily sense. I have put about 3500 rounds thru it and to date, I have not had one single failure of any type. It's a little heavy, but the fit, finish, and most importantly, the reliability are excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend one to a friend or loved one. I realize this isn't directly related to your question about the 9mm version, but I thought I would share my positive experience with the brand. I carry it IWB, in the heat and sweaty conditions of South Carolina, and never have a thought that it might not go bang should I ever need it to. I have to admit that it has won a place in my heart and I cannot imagine trading it. I love my Kahr and like any proud parent, even took a pic for you :p

I bought a CW9 yesterday...I'll let you know what I think a little later.

I just put 140 rounds through the CW9 a few hours ago. I was impressed. I still have a T9 and I was expecting the smaller, lighter CW to be much harsher in recoil. It was not. Very easy to shoot quickly, it points very naturally and delivered much better accuracy than I expected. The crappy sights are actally quite usable. The trigger was good...not T9 good but, better than I expected. I am very pleased and consider my $330 well spent.

If a few hundred more rounds go smoothly this little Kahr just might replace my beloved Sig P232 as my hot weather, shorts and tee shirt CCW.

While night sights would bring "cool" factor. The CW series is a carry weapon, and as such will typically be used within 10 yards or so. I certainly don't need expensive sights to hit COM at 30 feet.

I would spend the extra money and get the pm9. Shorter in length and height. Better barrel. Option of switching out the sights to anything other than stock. Just my two cents.

agree

owning the PM9, I would have to say, go for the PM9, just some extra nice features you cannot get on the cw series. Not taking anything away from the cw series either but for total concealability, the PM9 is smaller also. Course owning one of each would not be a bad idea either:banghead::banghead:
