I'm interested.

I owned a PM9 in the past and hated it (not the PM9 as a model - but rather my specimen). It was completely unreliable. I hear with the PM's it's like with Keltec - you win or lose the lottery. Two trips home and I finally gave up and sold it.

Anyways, here's my deal. I have made a rule that all of my handgun ammo will be the same exact ammo: Speer Gold Dot .40S&W 165 grain.

It goes in all my Glocks... and when I get a 1911 of some sort, it will go in that too.

Now I need a pocket pistol. I've been down the Keltec P3AT route - and won't go there again. I've been down the snubbie route- it was fine, but I like semi-autos. Then there was the PM9. Shot beautifully when it worked..... jammed like crazy when it didn't.

I've heard the MK series isn't nearly as bad though.

I'm looking for information from people who own the MK40 and shoot normal loads through it (ie: not something like Speer Gold Dot "Short Barrel"). I've limited myself to standard 165 grain .40 Speer GDHP ammo, and it would have to work with the MK40 for me to go with it.

If anybody has information regarding velocity/expansion with the MK40 using standard loadings.... and also just general information about the quality/build/reliability - that would be great.

I also noticed in the LGS today that it will quite easily fit into a pocket - so if it passes the criteria - it could be my new pocket pistol.

Thanks all. Share the knowledge. :)

The only two that interest me are the MK series and the K series. I'm not interested in the poly Kahrs.

Can't help you with the .40 but I have a MK9. It is my most carried gun and is/always has been 100% in every way. I would also LOVE to have the MK40!

Why would you limit yourself to a specific type of ammunition? Different guns prefer different ammunition--even if you can't find satisfactory factory ammo, you could almost definately find a handload recipie that'll work well.

Just a suggestion.

I've an MK9. It's a really nice gun, but I think you'll find the MK series a bit heavy for pocket carry unless you carry it in a back pocket (with a holster).
The MK's do have a really nice, no snag, profile though.

Yeah mk puts you back at baby glock weights, but still has the same dimensions as pm series.

I'm with you though. Have a pm9. Mine works, but if I ever got another kahr, it would be steel only. They just don't know how to do plastic imo.

I had an MK40. They are solid, quality guns. Mine ran great with everything from lead to JHP. Be advised, they kick a good bit! I bought mine with the intent of pocketing it, and was sorely disappointed. The MK40 is just too big for everyday pocket carry. If you're open to other carry methods, it's a great gun.
