I traded my Glock 43 in very good condition and $75 for the Kahr, which was barely fired at all.
I took the Kahr to the range today, finally. It's slightly smaller than the G43, but it fits my hands better. I like Kahr triggers. As everyone says, it's kind of like a smooth longish DA revolver trigger. If you try to pull slowly, it's challenging. If you do one smooth continuous stroke like a DA revolver, it's very nice.
I like the sights, even the weird vertical line on the rear one. The mag release and slide release are good. I forgot the extended mag at home. The six-round one loaded easily. The slide serrations are very good and the texture on the grips is rough enough, but not too rough. The slide is easy to rack. There's plenty of room between the mag release and slide release for my giant thumb.
I shot it well, better than I expected. The first few rounds were a little scattered because my hand thought it was about to get beat up by another small 9mm pistol. It didn't get beat up. We settled down quickly. I shot a mix of WWB and Blazer brass 115 grain range ammo, maybe 50 rounds total. Zero malfunctions. I shot standing from seven yards. My typical group of five was three almost touching and then two "fliers" and inch or two out.
Next time I'll scrounge all of the worst 9mm ammo out of my "leftovers" bag. It it can go 50-75 rounds of that garbage NP, I'll consider it to be a viable carry option. I'm a revolver guy, but there are pockets that this thing will fit into better than a j-frame. It turns out that I had a DeSantis Nemesis for one of my 40 caliber Kahrs that fits it just fine.
I bought a pinky extension for the six-round Kahr magazine and shot with it today. I had them on my G43 mags, and I still have them on my Ruger "LC9s pro" mags. So far I haven't been able to control such small 9mm pistols well enough to get acceptable accuracy with flush mags, but can shoot them well enough with a pinky extension. I ordered another flush six-round Kahr mag just now ($33 used, ouch) and will try that out next time. Great if I can, NBD if I can't.
Now I have the Kahr and the Ruger as my small 9mm carry options. I've also owned the G43, and a few others that were just dreadful. My order of preference for the single-stack 9mm pocket pistols I've owned:
1) Kahr PM9
2) Ruger LC9s pro
3) Glock 43
10) Ruger LC9 original
25) Taurus 709 "slim"
99) Kel-Tec PF9 (or maybe P11?)
