I just bought a Kahr PM9 and it shoots great. Shot 200 rounds of WalMart White box without a hiccup. When I was reassembling after cleaning it, the slide locked back. I had just put the slide on, pushed the slide release lever in, and poof! the slide won't go forward. Also, I can't remove the lever so I can't take it back apart. Kahrophiles, Help!:banghead:

I had this happen once with my PM9. In my case, it was because I put the recoil spring in backwards. One end is closed and the other is open - the closed end goes to the front.

What I had to do was insert an EMPTY magazine, then pull the trigger. I could then take the gun down again. Needless to say, now I'm very careful of how to recoil spring goes back in.

Try this..

Pull back on the slide and press inward on the slide release lever as though you were inserting it into the frame, then release the slide. You may have to work at it a slight bit. That should do the trick. Then disassemble the weapon and reinsert the slide release lever, this time giving it a good push to lock it in.

This happens when your slide release lever isn't full seated. I know..it happened to me. :D

Help!

I tried the hammer. No go

I tried the screwdriver in the mag-well trick no go.

I tried Kahr's solution (hammer down on the barrel hood) and it didn't work.

Guys, the slide isn't frozen. It is locked back about 1/2 inch. But the slide can be retracted a little further. Obviously the barrel is slightly out of battery. There is no tension on the triggger.

Help!! I don't want to send it back to the factory, I just bought it. :cuss:

Bummer.

You should be really close to being able to pull your slide back to the witness marks so that your slide release can be tapped out.

I had originally thought your slide release wasn't full inserted. Now it looks like you missed the cam hole during reassembly.

If you can get it back to the witness marks, then there shouldn't be any reason why it won't come out with a little tapping. The problem is getting it back that far!

This is the prior thread mentioned.

However, after fiddling with the gun myself I found a very simple and easy way to fix this other than what was suggested in the linked thread.

When the slide is stuck about 1/2" to the rear of the frame, and the slide stop won't budge...

Insert a narrow flathead screwdriver up the empty magwell so that the head fits between the slidestop and front of magwell. You may need a small flashlight to see inside the magwell cavity. You see, the slide stop is straddling the top of the magwell when the slide is stuck in this position.

With the screwdriver head wedged in the small gap between slide stop and front of magwell (which is the polymer frame), push the screwdriver handle toward the FRONT of the gun (thereby pushing the screwdriver head rearward).

AT THE SAME TIME, push the entire slide rearward with your other hand as you push forward with the screwdriver handle.

The slide, then, will free itself from the locked position and you can now remove the slide stop from the frame with ease. After that the slide will come right off as you pull the trigger.

I hope this helps those new to Kahrs to avoid damaging your gun.

I'm the author of this post on GT. The screwdriver method is simple.
