I posted here a while back about the problems with my PM9. I received a lot of great advice and appreciate it. But, as I mentioned earlier, I'm not doing anything but cleaning it until I give Kahr a chance to fix it. I had 250 rounds fired before my last post. I fired 120 more today. I had to stop using it at that point because it would no longer chamber the first round after reloading. I had over 20 failures in that 120 rounds and never completed a magazine without a failure. After 370 rounds it's just getting worse. No folks, I'm still not giving up or bashing Kahr yet. I'll give it another cleaning and use a different lube this time. Another trip to the range will determine if it's back to Kahr for their one chance. Over 40 years of gun ownership and I've never seen such an unreliable piece. I'm hoping to get it right because I love the size and feel of the PM9 but for now, it's back to my Smith for a carry.

I don't remember your other post, but did you polish the feed ramp with a Dremel? Worked wonders for our PM9, although it still needs a bit more to clear up all the failures.

Stop wasting time and ammo and send it to Kahr. If it ain't working right by now, it ain't going to happen. At this point, it needs a gunsmith's attention because there's something wrong with it.

If you've done your homework and read other Kahr threads, you should know that a significant number of people have problems with poly Kahrs. You've got one of the lemons and the sooner you send it to Kahr, the sooner it will get fixed.

p.s. Don't even think about touching it with a Dremel. A defective PM9 needs a professional repair job, not an amateur one.

The initial 200-round "break-in" period is meant to deal with occasional or sporadic failures to feed or eject (perhaps two, maybe three in that time), not consistent jamming. I can forgive this if it straightens up and flies right after that. If it has not done so in 370 rounds, it is not going to. Call or e-mail Kahr, tell them you want it fixed and get a return authorization (required). You will probably have to pay for shipping to MA, but they will pay for the return.

My own PM9 was such a gun, but it came back fixed. Had it not, I would be among the Kahr bashers. I have an older E9 that has been reliable.

send it back

u have screwed with it enough, send it back, Kahr will make it right, not good for it to happen but it has, so either peddle it, send it back or put it in your drawer never to be used again.

I would not peddle a gun that does not work, so I feel you at least need to send it back to get it right, then you can make your mind up after getting it back if you trust it or not. Complete mindset is very important. You would not be the first one to not like the kahrs, and certainly not the last. It just happens. I happen to be one of those kahr owners who has two kahrs and they have NEVER given one issue, One a PM9 and the a k9, both super guns. Can't say enough about my PM9, best ccw gun I have ever had, but If I could not trust it, no matter how much I liked it, I would move on. but as much as I like my kahr, I would no doubt give it one trip back to kahr to get right...

I went to buy a PM9 for my wife to purse carry & the first one they handed me felt very rough. You could feel the machining marks as you cycled the slide & it would not return completely empty unless you let it go from all the way back. I asked for another one thinking something had happened to the demo & it was just as bad. Not impressed.

Thank you

You folks are the greatest. Lots of good advice through my posts. I'm not going to touch this PM9 other then a complete cleaning. I don't want Kahr to bring up 'unauthorized modifications'. I'm probably nuts but I still want to give it one more range test. I lubed it with a teflon dry gun lube before Saturday's shooting disaster. Sunday I used Rem oil from a bottle. I doubt that it will be any different but I want to try. It's just me. After that, a cleaning and back to Kahr. I'll let you know next week. Thanks again.

lt1coupe

kahrs manual says directly to use the slide release lever to engage the first round. They do not recommend sling shotting the weapon. Especially during the initial break in procedure. Kahrs are very tight. Not alibing, just stating the directions in kahrs manual.

I must have gotten a "lucky" one then, as it has 13,400 flawless round sthrough it, goes bang every time. Best dcefense gun I ever owned.. would not hesitate to buy another one.

slide release

Thanks Jocko. I do use the slide release on a freshly loaded mag. That quit working Saturday but after stripping it for cleaning it worked several times afterwards as I tested it. Stay tuned for the next report next week.

Make Kahr make it right for you. My PM9 runs like a top, and I don't do anything out of the ordinary (clean, use Hoppe's gun oil, shoot, repeat).
