Kahr PM9 w/ night sights: What's the lowest offer I should accept (pics)

For anyone who's still interested, I sold the PM9 and all three mags to a local gun store for $400.

I'm sure I could have gotten $500 from the Kahr Forum as y'all said, but frankly, I don't want to deal with shipping, whether or not the buyer passes a background check, or what the new owner ends up doing with it. This way I have a piece of paper from a shop saying that it's no longer mine.

I took a hit, a very real hit, but I need the money. Let this be a lesson to anyone who thinks they can buy guns as "an investment."

I found out that was BS myself a long time ago. You always take a hit selling a used gun. It's like selling a used car. You don't buy a new car as an "investment" because you loose value and never get it back the minute you drive off the lot. An investment would be something you buy and are able to sell at a higher price. For the store you sold your gun to it is an investment because they bought it at $400 and will likely sell it for between $450 and $500, maybe more. Invest in precious metals if you want an investment.

$400 not too bad, I've done worse.

^ Thanks. I needed the $$$ and their offer was "good enough." Since I cannot carry on campus, or in the parking lot on campus, this pocket pistol was getting less and less primetime carry.

Hi, I think you are the only one here who should learn a lesson. Blowing $100 because You don't want the hassle of shipping is not fianacially sound, nor is it your problem if the buyer doesn't pass the NICS check. I have never lost money on any firearm I have ever purchased, but I don't use them as emegency financing either. Probally could have turned that pistol ( + 3 mags ) around in 2 days for $550 shipped with nite sights. Thanks but I'll pass on the lesson.Sorry but You come on here for comment and advice. Do it Your way and leave money on the table. Makes no sense....WVleo

Maybe if you buy it used to begin with. But, if you buy a gun new and try to sell it I don't understand how you will be able to get what you paid for it plus tax. Unless you take advantage of someone who is new to firearms and used pricing.

And I appreciate the advice I was given, I made a value judgment analysis and sold to a local shop. Also, I think your math is pretty fuzzy. You say someone would pay $550 + $25(UPS shipping) +$25 FFL fee for a used PM9 with night sights? That's $600 when you can buy the same gun BRAND NEW for $700-724 SHIPPED. I'm glad you live in a magical land of milk and honey where you always get 100% of the value back on guns you sell (sounds like horsepucky to me). I don't. And I didn't want to deal with issues with shipping, the FFL on his end, and the possibility that the eventual buyer's background check might go bad. And if you think I could just keep a person's money even if they're unable to take delivery of the gun because "it's not my problem"...well, you have very little understanding of what larceny is.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

As been stated by a few you won't get anything close to what you want for a pawn shop or gun shop. They are there to make money. It been along time since I went to those places to sell something but what I remember If you get 60% of what they can sell it for you will be lucky. why don't you tried word of mouth with some friends maybe there someone you know that want it.

be safe

60% is the absolute most I have ever gotten for a gun at a pawn shop. With the internet, selling a gun is so easy I don't bother getting ripped off by them anymore.
