House gives first-round OK to carrying concealed firearmsTOPEKA - The House today gave first-round approval to a bill that would allow licensed Kansans to carry concealed firearms.
It was a voice vote only. A final vote on SB 418 will come Tuesday.
If passed, the bill would return to the Senate for a vote on several changes approved by a House panel, including one that would keep guns out of churches.
Gov. Kathleen Sebelius has vetoed conceal weapons bills in the past. But the Senate's 29-11 vote several weeks ago gives two more votes than the two-thirds necessary to override a veto.
The proposed law would require licensees to be 21 years old, complete an eight-hour training course and have no felonies on their record.
The firearms could not be carried into most government-related buildings, including schools and sporting events.
Businesses could post signs prohibiting people from carrying weapons into their workplaces.

Good luck! Like other states, the socialists paint a bloody story. When the opposite happens, they crawl back under their rocks and the laws get adjusted in favor of law-abiding citizens.
