I'm close to getting a Keltec P-11, but I kept hearing about this PF-9 that is suppose to be better. I read Keltec info and it's slimmer (0.8" vs 1") yet also longer. Has anyone shot and carried both to tell us what's the real difference?

By the way, are there other semiautos as slim as Keltecs?

If you are thinking of the PF-9, I'd wait a while until the "Beta testers" have wrung out all the bugs. Some of the early users have reported cracked slides and barrel peening ( http://www.ktrange.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=5842 ), I haven't handled the PF-9, but the P-11 I tried had a horrible trigger pull. It wasn't too heavy, just very long.

As far as other small semi-autos, if you're talking 9mm, there's the Kahr MK9 & PM9 ( http://www.kahr.com/pistols_9mm.html ), as well as the Rorbaugh R-9 ( http://www.rohrbaughfirearms.com/ ). I have an MK9 myself, and I am very pleased with it. Being all steel, it may be a little heavy, but it is reliable and has an excellent trigger. It is just a lot harder for me to shoot well with such a short sight radius. I guess that means more time at the range!:D

PF-9:

Pros: Thin and better trigger than P-11
Cons: Some problems w/initial shipment and less rounds

P-11:

Pros: More rounds, more reliable thus far
Cons: Heavy trigger pull and fairly wide.

So you really have to decide what fits your needs better. I'm currently carrying a Glock 30 IWB and it's a really wide gun, but not that bad for CCW.

I would either buy the P-11 now, or wait 6 months and get the PF-9 once all of the bugs are worked out.

Did you ever purchase a Kel-Tec P-11?

The Kel-Tec P11 is LIGHT weight very compact weights only 14oz. with a width of only 1"

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Calibers : 9mm
Weight unloaded lbs:14 oz.
Loaded magazine: 6 oz.
Length: 5.6"
Height: 4.3"
Width: 1"
Barrel Length : 3.1" 79mm
Sight radius : 4.6" 116mm
Muzzle Energy Max : 400 ft lbs 540J
Capacity : 10 + 1 rounds
Trigger Pull : 9 lbs 40N

The firing mechanism is double action only (I truly believe Conceal Carry Folks should ONLY carry DDO guns!!). Mag holds 10 rounds and it's the smallest and lightest 9 mm made.

It has excellent ergonometry, recoil is not bad for a gun of this size. This is one gun that you can carry in all types of clothes, and that's critically important. For the price the quality both material and workmanship is excellent and should you have a problem they have SUPERIOR customer service... No questions asked just return the gun and they will fix it. Not bad for a sub $300.00 9 mm.

First you have to find a PF9. I spoke with Kel-Tec this morning and, while they are being shipped, it is in very limited #'s to preferred distributors. They won't hit most dealer shelves until January at the earliest. Finishes other than blued&black won't show up until summer.

I have a P11 and I'm not planning to get a PF9 because I like my P11. It uses the same mags as my primary carry gun a 6946 (also 59xx mags work). I can't complain. :)

Flip a coin

Sounds win-win to me. I'd go with the one with the better trigger.
