I just bought my first Keltec and have a couple of questions

1) Do they require breakin when I first loaded it I noticed that the slide hangs when chambering a round

2) It is difficult to get the magazine to lock in with a full six rounds in it(really have to slam it home)

Wasnt expecting the pistol to be flawless but was a little surprised since I planned to carry it as soon as my holster arrives. Thanks for your help and advice.

Mine did the same thing. After 50 rounds it became smooth. Be sure to take it apart and clean first. I do not carry 6 rounds in magazine because of the excess pressure. 5 in magazine and 1 in chamber works fine.

Don't make a practice of smacking the magazine to get it to lock. It can wear out the magazine catch. Push the magazine release button, insert the mag and release the button.

Mine also had a problem in the first 50 rounds with the slide catching. Since then, no problems. I have the +1 extension and it really helps with getting a better grip and giving you one more round. As stated, break the gun down and clean it well and that should help with the slide also.

alamo,

I was thinking that same thing when reading his post.

The mag catch is plastic, slamming it hard will wear it down QUICK.

Hand cycling any gun is not near the same as the actual firing. Some guns take to it better than others. My KT hand cycles fine as long as you snap it fairly briskly, otherwise it does have a tendency to "hang" as you say.

It has fired many successful rounds without any feeding failures, so dont be concerned about the "hang" - only firing it will surface any real problems.

I also dont advocate carrying any gun without firing a few hundred (atleast) trouble free rounds, but I would especially warn against this with a KT P3AT. Some of these guns prove to be troublesome, only firing it will tell you if yours is a good one.

Don't slam a mag unless you want to learn how to install new Mag release or sent back to factory. Down load mag by 1 and shoot a couple 100 . Let pistel and mag settle in. I carry mine fully loaded but I let it settle in first.
All 3 of my KT have been perfect.
If you want add a Bersa finger extention to mag for better control. Doesn't give up concealability and helps in control.

Mine still does this when chambering the first round in a magazine. I just apply a little pressure on the rear of the slide and it snaps shut.

This pistol is so tiny that I put a couple of fingers on the top / rear of the slide and push the magazine in with my thumb. :D

Be sure to field strip, clean and oil lightly after every trip to the range.
