Back in March my P11 jammed up tight as can be, at the range. The slide was locked all the way back as if it was welded there. Before this happened I had a lot of various feeding problems, especially with Gold Dots and other hollowpoints. I sent it back to Kel-Tec, and after about 10 weeks I got it back. They replaced the barrel, and "internal parts", and test fired the gun. The new barrel is obviously more polished than the original.

I took it to the range today, and the gun functioned flawlessly. I put about 160 rounds of 115gr roundnose through it, followed by 40 rounds of various 115 and 124 grain hollowpoints. The hollowpoints fed and extracted flawlessly including the Gold Dots.

I'm not happy that it took 10 weeks, but they seem to have taken care of the problem. I really like this gun for pocket carry.

That's good to know it takes that long. I have a P11 I need to send back because the trigger hangs at the end of the pull and won't return to the set position when letting go. I think there's a roll pin in the trigger that has worked itself loose and causing the problem.

I was going to have a set of night sights and a lighter trigger spring installed while it was there.

Thanks for the heads up.

The secret to firing a lot of rounds through the P11 is to not load 'em hot. My favorite practice load is 3.7 grains of Bullseye behind a 105 cast SWC. Feeds perfectly and ejects cases just to my right so I can easily find them. I can lay out a 6x8 tarp and they'll all fall on it. :D The gun's recoil feels light and the round is quite accurate, though shoots a bit high compared to my 115 JHP +P carry that hits to POA.

Yeah, 200 rounds of +P would be a bit tiring, but I can shoot MY practice loads all day and never hurt. The gun is only rated for "limited use" with plus P. I've never fired more'n maybe 400 or 500 rounds of hot stuff in the gun. Most of its 14 years and 11,000 plus rounds that have gone through it have been either my practice load or an IDPA load I used to shoot that was loaded with a 115 grain bullet to just make minimum IDPA power factor. If you're going to shoot a lot of +P in these things, you're probably going to have problems eventually. The ammo is rough on the gun AND the shooter.

Just my input. I carry my P11 most of the time, alternated it with a .38 Ultralight and lately, a P64.

Over the past 2 years Kel-Tec's service time went from about 4-6 weeks, to 8weeks and now to 10 weeks. Yeah, it sucks to be without for a while but I haven't heard of to many guns coming back from Cocoa not being 100% reliable, including my P11 that someone (a guy who plated the barrel and slide) put a PF-9 barrel in. Kel-Tec called and said "do you know your P11 has a PF-9 barrel?". And of course there wasn't a charge for anything.

It was 200 rounds total, and yes it was a bit painful at the end. The P11 always causes a blister at the base of my strong side thumb. I would normally only shoot 50 rounds or so in a session, but I wanted to test for reliability. I dirtied it up with 160 rounds of round nose, and then shot 40 rounds of the previously problematic hollow points. I'll probably do it again before I carry it.

For me, its not that my P11 beats my hand up. I have a Hogue Handall Jr slip on sleeve that helps for that.
It's the trigger pull that after a box or so of ammo, causes my hand to begin to shake like crazy.
