The PLR-16 is a gas operated, semi-automatic pistol chambered in 5.56 mm NATO caliber.
It was designed as and is intended as a long-range target and hunting pistol.

The PLR-16 has a conventional gas piston operation and utilizes the proven M-16 breech locking system. The rear sight is adjustable for windage. The front sight is of M-16 type. An integrated MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail will accept a multitude of standard accessories. The muzzle end of the barrel is threaded 1/2” -28 to accept standard attachments such as a muzzle brake. Except for the barrel, bolt, sights, and mechanism, the PLR-16 pistol is made entirely of high-impact glass fiber reinforced polymer.

yep. think I might have to get me one 'o them. pretty darn neat, and it seems to be, from the video, pretty easy to control. seems much lighter than an AR pistol.

Considering where Keltec is located, and some "neighbors" - my gut says this was produced with Pilots in mind. :)

IIRC Ketec has some unique experience in Polymer, Metallurgy and CAD/CAMs that do more than just gun production.

Pilots. My gut says so, and I tend to listen to my gut. Especially if one considers where some Pilots are spending a lot of time now-a- days.

No hard evidence...just my gut mind you. :)

Ok, stupid question time.

Is the round travelling fast enough, within 100 yards, to work as it was designed? To fragment correctly? What would be the ideal ammunition for this beauty?

I am not as familiar with .223 ballistics as others here, but with a barrel that short, it seems that lighter would be better. I would think that any of the 40gr. or 55gr. hp rounds should expand with little trouble. As far as the issue-type FMJ ammo goes, I have no idea. You would think that a lot of velocity would be lost thought and that would defintely affect fragmentation of the fmj rounds.

My understanding is there will be a version available with railed handguards. (and some other cool extras. check out the kel tec owners group forum for more info.

Anyone know what happened to that video? The link no longer works now that Kel-Tec has a new website.
