Kel-Tec Sub-2000

Can anyone give me first hand input on the Kel-Tec Sub-2000 9mm sub-rifle? How durable is it? What problems have been encountered with it? What parts seem to wear out faster than others? Problems with any brand or style of 9mm ammo? Etc.

I don't know how "tough" they are,but mine is awesome.I got the S&W 5900 series mag gun.

Or go to the Kel-Tec site. I had a 59 mag. series 9mm, it didn't like any other mags but the one supplied with it. I have several freinds who have them, and love 'em. I loved mine, too, except for the fact it was limited to ten rounds, and I bought it with the idea of using longer (at least regular 15 round) mags. If I bought another one, it would be a Browning HP mag one, or Glack mags. You'd have to do a lot of shooting to wear one of these out, IMHO. A friends has over 5000 rounds through it in 3 years, and still going strong. His never misses a beat. I shoot it when I go over there, makes me miss mine. I do plan on buying an SU-16c in the near future, though.

I'm extremely happy with my Sub-2000. It gets shot every time I go shooting 'cause it's such a fun little plinker and ammo's so cheap. Folded, it fits in my range bag, so there simply isn't any reason not to tote it along. I have several thousand rounds through it, almost entirely Winchester White Box, with only a single hiccup to date. It's held up well, and doesn't show any appreciable wear.

My wife loves it because it's light and has no real recoil. It's short enough for indoor work, and the ten dollar kel-tec sling works well as an assault sling. I have no problem hitting paper plates at a hundred yards with it. Extra mags cost me ten bucks each, and I haven't had the problems entropy describes. I got six of the 17 round Eagle mags, and had to chamfer the mag catch holes just a tiny bit on two of them to get a positive lock. They've all functioned fine.

Getting out with the Sub feels exactly like being 12 years old with your first .22 again. The little things are just a blast to shoot. Pretty much every time I go out, I end up letting others try it, and they all love it. I know it's on several shooting buddies 'to buy' list.

You can find them on gunbroker for $250. There really isn't any reason not to get one.

I was one of the unlucky owners of the Kel-tec 9mm rifle.Never got it to shoot a full mag I traded it.Other had better luck.I no longer pay to send new guns back just to have them return not fixed.

Ditto on feeling like a kid with a .22 with it. My 12 year old son loved it, as did I. My friend, the one in my previous post, has new shooters try it out as their first rifle, and everyone so far has liked it, and shot well with it. A friend that rarely shoots who shot it quipped, "why doen't the Army use these things?"

22/22mag: Yours must be the exception to their otherwise excellent cutomer service. I emailed them when my front sight blade broke and had 3 whole new sets (blades and windage buttons) come in the mail in a couple days! Another friend sent his barrel group in to have the sight post set straight (it was @ 5 degrees to one side) and got a whole new barrel group.

I put mine in my range bag, too, and it went every time. I may yet buy another 9mm, but first I want the SU-16c.
