I’ve considered picking one of these up for years. It is kind of ugly but appealing at the same time. My only requirement is reliability. For all of you that own these rifles, are they reliable? I would get the Glock 17 mag version.

I have the 19 version and it has been flawless. I upgraded all the parts with MCarbo replacements and it made a huge difference. It is a great travel gun and fits in very small places. Having common mags and ammo with my CCW pistol really makes it shine.

I believe I have about 7-800 rounds through it at this point.

Two thumbs up for me.

Mine’s been reliable through several thousand rounds. I wish I had bought an upgraded version from MCarbo from the onset as I’ve spent more doing similar mods piecemeal, but hey, live and learn.

I love mine. I put on the MCARBO flip away optics mount and now have a red dot on mine. Works great and I've never had any failures.

The only mods I’ve made were to put a piece of rubber fuel line on the bolt handle to make it more comfortable, a Tacticool neoprene cover on the main tube so it doesn’t feel cold and absorbs some recoil, and the most important, replaced the original useless plastic front sight with a metal AK style one from a Hi-Point carbine.

One downside, depending on ammo brand, is as a lefty I sometimes get some burning powder in my face from the ejection port. Good coverage shooting glasses are mandatory for lefties.

I don't own one, but know a couple people who do. They like them.

Reliably wise, they either work or are broken. Which is what you want in any gun.

Personally, they're a "Carry a lot, shoot a little". Type of gun. Perfectly fine to shoot, but there are more comfortable options available if you want to put a lot of rounds downrange. (Not gonna list them because I don't want to derail the thread.)

I'm not aware of anything lighter than the Sub, so if you're backpacking with it just in case you need something, I can't think of anything better.

I've tinkered with mine. A recoil pad from a $1 flip flop, wrap around the bolt knob. Works every time. I've several Kel Tecs and like them all.

I’ve had several Kel-Tecs and haven’t had any issues. I have the first gen of the sub-2000 in black I bought used from my father, but have never fired it. You’ll have a lot of 9mm at your finger tips if needed. Certainly packable.

My Gen 2 G19 version has been reliable. It's main appeal is its size and weight and the fact that it can be folded up and stored. The downsides are a rear sight that is so low it is hard to get a good cheek weld (there is an aftermarket sight to fix that), the trigger is mushy, recoil is surprisingly harsh because of its light weight and blowback action, and it is not rated for +P ammo. I view it as a niche gun to carry a lot and shoot a little, but it does work.

You guys with the g19 versions must have small hands, I run the gen2 Beretta 92 mag Sub2k which is the same grip as the g17 version and that grip is actuall a bit shorter than my G19/g32 Glocks. No way I'm getting my pinky on a g19 sub2k. Those mags sit higher in a sub2k so grips are shorter..
But mine's been reliable and I like it. But be aware the factory trigger is horrible and you're limited on optics, and those like me with wide faces/high cheekbones have a hard time using the irons.

I have one but haven’t really dig into it yet. I put a bead style front sight post in place of the factory one as sort of an analog red dot. I may also drill out the aperture just a bit but I need to shoot it more first. It’s shot everything I’ve tried from oddball heavy Berrys handloads to 115 FMJ, with a few 147 grain XTPs sprinkled in for spice. Hates the Berrys accuracy wise.

Same deal with the G19 grip for me. I have small hands, and an actual Glock 19 fits me perfectly, but I can't get my pinky on the G19 Sub 2K.

I load it with a Glock 17 mag to use as a pinky rest, and it's workable, but I wish I had just bought the the G17 model to begin with.

I don't mind the trigger though. It is a heavy pull but very short.

On these Keltec carbines, does the bolt lock open after last shot? Have they added this feature? Used to, these didn't have a last shot bolt hold-open mechanism. Not counting your rounds = "click" / empty chamber.

Mine does not lock open on an empty magazine, or if it does, I haven't figured out how to make it do that. The bolt locks open manually but not when the mag is empty.

Ive got a gen 2 in the “multi mag” version and switched the mag release to the 5900 flavor from the M&P version it came with. Opened the rear sight aperture with a drill bit twisted by hand (a Google search will give you the exact size). Instead of the McCarbo route and a red dot, I opted to go the cheap route and added a red laser under the forearm .

Fun little gun to shoot, and it doubles over nicely with a 5904 carry gun, and shares mags.

I had one. I couldn't come to grips with the ergonomics so I sold it and bought a Ruger PC9. Fits me way better and is fun to shoot.

Many people like the Sub 2000. I'd recommend shooting one before you buy if possible.
