Hello all, anyone else having problems with the Kel-tec Sub2000? Specifically, is anyone having issues with blazer ammo or having stovepipe rounds cutting into the front right side of the ejection port?

I have a sub2000. I think the manual says specifically to not use aluminum cased ammunition. As for the stove pipe issue mine jammed like that once in my first session out with it. It cut the case down the side a bit. I have not spent much time with it since then. Its kind of a toy gun to me, not something I would grab.

Blazer sells brass ammo...

I've put less than 6-700 down my 9mm sub but haven't had any issues like you describe.

I had the exact same problem you described. Same ammo, same location and failure. It worried me because I had bought it for my fiancée to shoot. I took it home, cleaned it really well, and the next time I shot it (about 150 rounds), I had no problem. I made sure to shoot my carry ammo through it, and it functioned flawlessly. I think the failures were a combination of the gun being dirty from shooting a lot, and just breaking it in.

How old is this gun?

This was a fairly common problem with the early models due to ejected brass wearing a "divot" in the ejection port hood. It would cause the empty brass to bounce back into the action, and the bolt would drive them forward into the ejection port like a cookie cutter. KT redesigned the ejection port hood on the later models and offered a little metal clip to cover the aft portion of the ejection port hood on the older models.

Is there any way you could snap a pic of yours?

Old style ejection port hood (ejection port runs all the way back to the hood)

Newer style (hood is moved back and angled bracing/deflectors added)

My 9MM Sub 2000 had a polymer mag catch. When it wore down and did not hold a mag very well anymore I called Kel-Tec. They said they make them with a metal insert now, and that I could send it in for them to replace it, or they would send me the part if I wanted to put it in. Very friendly. I put the part in myself. No trouble to this day, and that was several years ago.

Do you know the rough date of that change?

Well, I sold mine in December '03 and KT had already addressed the problem by then.

I had bought mine during the AWB and was having trouble with some crappy hi-caps I had bought (Ram-line) not staying in. They (KT) sent me a new mag catch and told me to modify it to see if I could make it work with the crappy mags, and if I couldn't, just box the rifle and mags up and ship it back to them and they'd make it work. Customer service just doesn't get any better than that.
