I have looked all over the internet to find not one answer to my question. Is there a way to lock the keltec sub 2000 open (or getting rid of the folding ability)? I wanted to get a sub 2000 after I had used one many times but I do not want the folding. I love the simplicity and light weight of the 2000 along with the standard capacity it has but i am not big on the whole folding thing, I am not saying it would ever brake, but i will never use the folding and would rather it be a bit more um... "bulletproof" :D that it already is. Thanks guys.

The trigger guard is what you operate to unlock the barrel/chamber and fold it. You could epoxy the trigger guard to the grip to keep it from folding.

It is difficult to accidentally fold the rifle. You would have to have something intrude inside the trigger guard and pull down on it -- hard. This is something you would be watching for just as a basic safety precaution on any rifle.

While you might never think you would want to fold the rifle, it is part of its normal operation, and a step in effectively cleaning it. By locking it in place, you'd be complicating maintenance for no reason.

If the capability to fold is a serious concern, you probably want to look at a different rifle.

You almost have a better chance of breaking the gun than inadvertantly folding it. They are not made of Titanium. There is another line of carbine that I have seen that takes the Glock mags but it runs north of $700 but is much sturdier and may be more to your liking. I din't recall the brand but perhaps someone else knows.

You could get something like a Thureon. These are AR15-looking carbines that take Glock mags. Not cheap, but they seem like high quality.

The Sub-9s will never just fold themselves. They're reasonably sturdy for plastic guns.

I am not worried about inadverntantly folding it (i know that won't happen from me shooting it). It is hard to find a barebones rifle with fewer parts and simpler construction than the sub 2000 anymore that shoots 9mm and is as lightweight to boot. Even the ar-15s are not a literal tube with a trigger that shoots 9mm like the sub 2000. I love these features of the rifle but as said before I am not going to fold it, all i see the folding as for me is a weak point that may (probably never will) break, but figured if i can just keep it from folding and brace or strengthen that joint of the rifle the better off I would be if a person is not folding it. I have time on my hands and was just wondering if there was a way. As stated above you would break the rifle before folding it. I am not saying it is going to break or fold, just a little worried about the "tab" system that keeps it from folding if broken by pressure because im not sure how sturdy it is but i do not think it is going to hold a candle to a cold steel weight test you know. I just figured if there is a way to keep it unfolded therefore increasing the rigidity of the rifle i might as well as i am not going to fold it. Thanks
