Let's talk compact rifles/carbines

lol.I wish I could tell my mom to pick me up ammo at the store and get the right kind.she has enough trouble with the deodorant I like.I agree about the ak thing.Cops like to pull kids over, and you might as well offer the guy some blow if you're gonna have an AK in the car.

Enjoy the 12. As someone who has experience with the 12 and a pistol grip, before reduced recoil ammo, I advise you to practise much and work your way up from low brass field loads to the personal defense ammo. When I started I tended to shoot high right but with practise became adequate with the 12 to where I could qualify on my former PD shotgun course.

Wow, that's the least likely of choices I'd expect you to go with, but I can say quite confidently that there's no way in hell you could be dissapointed with your decision =)

I have sudden, split second changes of mind sometimes. If I had walked into the gunshop a day earlier, I probably would have ended up with the Keltec. Instead, I got to thinking the next afternoon about durability, ammunition, and cost, and decided on the 870. It means I do not have to buy another type of ammunition (I already run two 12 guage shotguns, a Win. 1300 and a Moss. Mav. 88). I'm tickled pink about it, even though I have not had a chance to shoot it yet. Will do so tomorrow morning.

WHY???? Little uncomfortable with the name and wonder the
purpose of choice of a compact that fits in small places

If you mean my screenname, my favorite gun of all is the Gau-8/A Avenger 30mm cannon on the A-10 Warthog. It means nothing other than that. Same as somone with the name of 1911shooter or Glockfan or what have you. I am not going to use my real name on the internet when I do not have to.

And I like compact. I am a pilot, and the aircraft that I fly do not have much room, especially when loaded with passengers. Having the weapon small enough to fit in the backpack that serves as my flightbag helps. Security is nonexistent around small airports, and at some, people who are up to no good will hang out in the parking lots.

A shotgun with a 28 inch field barrel, while fine for outdoors, does not lend itself to storage and "drawing" well.

Here are the specs for my newest baby:D
Remington 870 Express Home Defense
18" Cylinder bored barrel with bead sight
Synthetic stock and forend, short LE forend.
4+1 capacity (I did not want an extended tube- gonna take this model down frequently)
Unknown brand of aftermarked Side Saddle- already installed by the dealer.

The only thing I want to do now is remove the J-lock, but I don't have the parts right now or the inclination.

You should decide on Glock 17/19 now so you stock up on the correct length mags. A few evil 33rd mags would be fun too.
Not an issue, as long as he would have bought G17 mags for it.

I own a G19, and the only G19 mags I have are the two that came with it. I keep one in the pistol, and the other as a spare in case #1 decides to have issues (yes, all of my mags are numbered, even for my 10-22s). All of the extra mags I have for it are G17 mags. They're normally the same price, so I just get the bigger mag. Also, if I get another G17 (I've owned two), I've already got a pile of magazines for it.

I went the keltec way. Did not like the way it shot. So I then got a semi auto Henry .22 cal rifle that stores in it's butstock. Weighs 2 1/2 pounds and will fit in a motorcycle saddle bag. For a kid on a budget it is a lot of fun.

You're going to be hard pressed to find a rifle that beats the KT Sub2000 for compactness, light weight, and low cost.

As the legal limit is a 16 inch barrel, I would suggest that nothing can be shorter than 16 inches folded.

I have a weapons instructor friend that has a Beretta 96 version of the Keltec 40 and has put many, many rounds through it. He also says it is pretty accurate. Never like the look much myself, and I have no use for a huge, huge pistol, so I wouild probably go with a Mossberg 500 or Remington 870. Mossberg is significantly lighter and that's what I chose.
