I just called the MN and Nat'l John Kerry campaigns
and, after flummoxing the phone volunteer, got put through to the tape for the Issues-or-whoever director.
I gave my name, telephone number, and requested a callback. I said something like this:
"I want to know why John Kerry recently accepted the gift of a shotgun that would be banned by bills he supported."
I gave no clue to my political persuasion, but by my matter-of-fact tone and no-nonsense statement, I think I gave them a serious question to consider.
I did this with the phone volunteer and on the tape. In both cases, the volunteer was distinctly rattled by the fact that JFK would do such a thing.
Can we get this going nationally? Can Democrats here nail him directly with that question at his campaign appearances? 10,000 phone calls, not e-mails, of a similar nature has got to be demoralizing--and the more push we can give it, the more likely we can make it a national event.
MODERATOR: feel free to move this to the Roundtable or whatever, but keep in mind that what I am trying to present here is an 'action' as a gunny, not as a particular partisan.
(However, I freely admit that I am anti-kerry, for his gun-control position alone, and really think that any gunny voting for Kerry is much more balanced on issues than I am even if they do have rocks for brains....)
