Anyone have any experience with Kimbers chambered in 10mm? Unbelievably, I just learned they are legal to buy in California, so I could theoretically get one. Any word on how they hold up, or how reliable they are in this caliber? Thanks.

While sometimes fraught with juvenile behavior, there are many threads on the Kimber in 10mm [ here ]…and others [ here ]. The 1911 forum also has plenty of DW and Kimber 10mm content.

Also, check out The THR 10mm threads (autoloader & revolver content) archive that’s a “sticky” on top of the “Handguns: General Discussion” forum.

It seems that both the Kimber and Dan Wesson 1911s both have a dedicated following. DW did a lot of R&D when it came to bringing out the Razorback. Personally, I am happy with my S&W 1006, 1086, and 1066 as my “all steel” 10mm autoloaders. Good luck on your info search.

I had a Kimber 10 mm Stainless Target that was a classic jam-o-matic.

Kimber could not get it fixed when I sent it back, and their customer service basically bailed on me and refused to try to make the problem right.

So, no more Kimbers for me!

If you want a 10 mm that works, I would go with the Glock 20.

My Kimber expirience was similar to LG's. Stainless Target II in 10mm. I paid $1100.00 OTD for mine. It looked fine in the store but it had a horrid time extracting. The brass would be polished going in and look like somone ran emery paper over them comming out. To shorten the story a bit, three trips to Kimber, two barrels and finally an agry call to Kimber from the local rep, they finally got it fixed.

I choose to dump the gun at a loss so I no longer own nor have the desire to own a Kimber.

I've got a Kimber Eclipse in 10mm and it's been flawless so far.

I've only run about 300 rounds through it since 10mm ammo isn't cheap and I haven't started reloading yet, but it has fed, fired, and ejected every time.

I'd check out 10mmtalk for more reviews.

I've got a Kimber 10mm Eclipse, but sadly, it sits in the safe, a victim of not enough time to get to the range. Absolutely gorgeous gun. Bakjr, what mags do you use? I've got a few metalforms and a few Mec-gars. Wanted to stay away from factory as much as possible.

I bought a Stainless Target II in 10mm as soon as they hit the shelves. Mine does not like the old Norma 170 gr. loads but will eat everything else just fine (including my 1408 FPS 180 gr. handloads). If you intend to shoot a lot of full power, a stiffer recoil spring and shock buff would be a good idea.

As an aside, this critter is an absolute tack driver. It is bone stock other than the Hogue paux ferro finger groove grips, and I see no reason to change it.

Something to always keep in mind is that the extreme spread of loads available for the 10mm present an incredible challenge for the gunmakers. You have everything from the Hydrashoks (around 380 ft/lbs) to Buffalo Bore and Double-Tap pushing more than double that. That spread is similar to .38/.357 but present problems in autoloaders. Of all the 10mm's I've played with, only the S&W's and Glock were mostly trouble free with all loads. The 1006 is and likely always will be the best 10mm made.

Southpaw... I've got 2 of the Kimber mags and both work great in my gun. I agree that it is one fine looking pistol, but the finish is pretty delicate and probably would not hold up well to holstering. Mine stays in the safe too much as well since I have 6 other 10mm's to play with.
