My friend wants to sell me his Kimber Stainless Target II 10mm for $500 (that is more than what the local dealers have been offering him). Its mint condition with box and paperwork has had less than a full box ammo through it. I realize that's a good price however I was holding out for a Dan Wesson 10mm. How does the Kimber compare to the Dan Wesson?

I am leaning towards purchasing it as my friend really needs the money, however it will be my first 1911. I already have a S&W 1076 so it won't be my first 10mm. I would like to hear from any other owners of that model on how they like it.

While I don't have the Target model, I do have the Eclipse 10mm. It is a very well made gun, accurate and reliable. The only malfunctions I have had were because of downloaded ammo.

I'd buy it...used Kimbers at my local dealer go for about 800. I haven't heard anything but good things about kimber. The next pistol I'm going to get is probably going to be a Custom Stainless II in .45.

Bought it guys, thanks. It is in mint condition with the box/paperwork and he claims it doesn't even have a full box of ammo through it.

Worst come to worst you sell it on gunbroker for a couple hundred more than you bought it for. That is a killer deal. Hope you didn't bend a friend over too far though.

I would test fire it first. Kimbers jam a lot.

Which models would that be? I just can't seem to get the ones I own to do that.

Buy it! $500 is a steal. Then take your friend out to dinner for taking advantage of him.

The word is out that Dan Wesson will apparently no longer produce a 10MMs in 2010. That may temper your decision to wait for a DW. I'd buy the Kimber for $500 since a Dan Wessons will be well over $1000 if there is any available stock.

Congrats. $500 was a helluva deal. I have one, it's a great gun. Very accurate, has been reliable with everything but Norma 170gr., which won't run in my Witness's either, and has even cause a couple of jams in my uber-reliable S&W 1006.

I would test fire it first. Kimbers jam a lot.

And we are imparted with some non-wisdom from the peanut gallery:rolleyes:

Pure BS! Every one I've shot never had a hiccup......Most of the time the only people you hear from on the web are the haters....People tend to not say much (us being the exception) when things go well but when something doesn't work right then look out....Kimber builds many times more 1911's than any other manufacturer, there's bound to be a few that don't measure up.

I will say this though...I'd take a 1911 from any of the big names in 1911's and not be worried much about it's function.

Great deal man! Enjoy that pistol!
