Does anyone have the two 1911s? Can you please tell me if the bp ten II slide will fit on any kimber goverment 1911 frame?

Thanks

That level of interchangeability is iffy, Kimber frames and slides are fit tight. Different frames often have different contours and the rear of the slide is often cut to match, so even if it "fits" it may still look like crap.

What's your plan? I think you'd have to check the fit of your BP upper to the specific government frame you are planning to buy before buying or vice-versa.

I am buying all black (blue) kimber custom II and I want a stainless slide.

I know I can purchase another stainless custom II, but it's more $$. I realized the bp ten II has a black frame, stainless slide. I am going to try and switch the two so I can have the two tone and hopefully sell the black slide/frame bp ten II.

I have no idea if it works or not, hoping someone on here will tell me.

Thanks

I don't think anyone can tell you for sure, its going to depend on how the tolerances stack up on your two particular guns.

For a two tone look why not sent the Custom II slide to Virgil Tripp and have it plated? Then you are not trying to sell a frankengun. The BP with the stainless slide is a higher priced option than the BP with black slide so you should get a better price for the stock BP you have.

I have a blued custom 1 and a stainless goldmatch 1. The goldmatch slide fits on the custom frame and works perfectly. The custom slide is a little too snug on the goldmatch frame and it binds a little. So you might have to check the fit on the particular slide you want to use. On a side note I thought I heard that the matte black kimber customs use to be carbon steel and now they are all made from stainless and then finished black. If that is the case couldn't you just have the finish stripped off the slide and you would have a two tone? Or do like Wally said and just have the slide refinished in hardchrome which would look good and wears great. Mark

Hmmmm, I guess i'll just be on the lookout for a stainless Custom II and sell the frankengun to a friend or something.

or if someone is willing to trade their stainless w/ fixed sights for a black slide with night sights.

When the Kimber Ten-II came out, I bought one to go with my Pro Carry II. The slide assembly from the Ten-II was too tight to fit on the Pro Carry.

did you buy the bp ten II or the pro bp ten II? If you purchased the 5" model to put on your 4" pro model, I think the dustcover would be too short. no expert, just from experience.

I think you'd be best off to buy a Stainless Custom II and have the frame blackened with your finish of choice. It'll get you the look you desire without having buy a second gun and try to fit each slide to the opposite frame. Bluing is inexpensive, and most black oxide finishes are equally cost effective.
