I am looking to add one of these revolvers to my ccw rotation. Which would you choose? And, why?

I have several k frames and j frames and looking at these two at the LGS I must admit I like the feel of their triggers and the extra weight over say an Airweight.

The Kimber is 23 ounces and I would get the DAO. The Colt is 25 ounces and I would probably get the dasa model. I have others available so, just looking for a quality ccw. Any thoughts?

I like them both. I'd probably get the Colt though because I like having the SA trigger option.
Yep, that's why I made that choice. That, and the fact that this particular Cobra has one spectacular trigger, both DA and SA.

Now, If the shop had had one of the K6 Royal models in, though, might've been different. That's one good-lookin' Kimber ...

The Cobra's a .38 with a hammer. The ones I've looked at were very nice with sweet triggers in DA and (where the Kimber is lacking) SA. The Kimbers are .357, the ones I've looked at had great triggers and are DA only. I like them both. I kind of dig the flattened sides of the Kimber, for such a pretty gun, the cylinder is very purposeful. I don't think there is a compelling objective reason to choose one over the other, so get the one you like better, or both.

I’d get the Kimber, I love how they look, 357 capable, and they look like they’d be easier to conceal. Not a loser in those two choices, but if was getting the Colt I’d get the longer barreled version for a range gun. No real need for single action in a carry revolver but that’s my personal opinion.

My vote is for the retro cobra or the night cobra. Both gorgeous. Retro is gonna be a rare model not many made. Hold its value. You’ll be smiling in 20 years

The kimber is focused in concealed carry and with the ability to use 357 magnum, that's a no brainer to me. Even if you'll only use 38 special the ability to load up considerably is never a bad thing. Thebkimber trigger is very good and the concealed hammer is nice for a carry gun.
The colt is a great gun, haven't shot one but I'm sure it's nice. It's the same type of gun that's been available for 100 years though. If you want a 38 special snub with an exposed hammer there are a million other choices. It wouldn't be my choice but still very nice guns and I'm glad to see colt with new offerings.

I am very fond of my 3” K6s DASA. I have never shot the Colt, or even held one for that matter, and as such I cannot comment on them. Really like the Kimber though.

I've only handled both at the shop and never fired either. I'd go Kimber for a carry gun. Cylinder release is more instinctive for me, I'd prefer DAO on a carry gun, and the sights are much better.

My wife and I (the gun was to be hers) squeezed more than a few triggers in da mode, while comparing the Colt with the Kimber revolvers. There wasn't much difference in price between the two but we both agreed that the Colt had a slightly better da trigger pull and, for that reason alone, we opted for the King Cobra. It was a tough decision but one we don't regret.

I have owned them both. Still own the Cobra and added a Night Cobra as well.

They are both impressive guns with sweet triggers. Very accurate. Both well-made guns worth their price.

I ultimately chose Colt over the Kimber because IT was more comfortable to me to shoot.

You did well with the king cobra! I thought it was 38 cobra in question. I have the new KC. Shoots like cap gun with 38 special FMJ std rounds. I have yet to send magnums down range. The trigger is awesome!! Congrats! I have a Kramer scabbard holster in the mail for it. Should be here mid week!!

Kimber K6s in 3”! Why? Better sights, excellent trigger, fully blended no snag construction, .357 capable, smaller, lighter, 100% forged with no MIM parts and for CCW I prefer an internal hammer DAO design.

Thank you for all the replies. They are helping me decide. I do like dao for ccw as it allows firing through a coat pocket with no snags. But, I have and can fire a hammered gun through a coat pocket as well.

Love the pic above! Beautiful gun!

I shoot revolvers regularly in double and single action. I don’t see the need for a hammer in a snub nose gun. I handled both several times and bought the Kimber. I haven’t seen any of the special model Colts but the regular Cobra has a bead blast finish and a much bigger grip if you are going to carry. Some people may like the Colt’s bead blast finish, but I do not. I felt like the Kimber better fit the purpose of a carry gun and fit and finish are excellent. The Kimber shoots well and is surprisingly accurate for a snub nose double action revolver. I would imagine the Colt probably does too and the one I handled had a nice trigger. I did add a Hogue Bantam grip and a Muddy River Tactical IWB leather holster to my Kimber . I am more than pleased with my purchase. On another note, I much prefer Colt 1911s to Kimbers. My only gripe with the K6 is that a gun that cost that much comes in a thin cheap cardboard box.

Colt makes a King Cobra revolver with a highly polished finish, having a matte finish on top of the top strap (to reduce glare). We like ours.
I haven’t handled a new King Cobra? How is the size compared to a Cobra?
