I have been researching these two and the reviews were initially not very good.

The truth about guns said their Cobra was shooting 9 inches to the left. And one sample locked up and had to go back to Colt. These could have been teething issues on a new gun? How is accuracy with your Cobras?

Another gun writer (revolverguy ) wrote about the k6s having broken firing pin issues. Kimberling told him they were designing the dasa models to have a stainless steel firing pin time fix issue. But, they refused to discuss how they would correct issue of titanium firing pin in their dao k6s. What! Why would they not fix this in all their guns?
It sounds like this issue continues on the Kimber revolver forum k6 owners with dao guns are still having to send back their guns to kimber with broken firing pins, while the dasa owners are saying they dry fire with no issues.
This is very concerning to me that a manufacturer knows there is an issue and fixes it on one type of action but not the other. Just WOW!

Maybe I will just stick with my 5 shot snubbies for now?

All truth be told I got my KC in feb. had some light strikes with it. Sent it in and got it back in about a month. They admitted there was a hammer spring upgrade cobras and pythons and ejector rod upgrade. I got all the upgrades and what feels like a free trigger job! It’s even better than before. So all the manufacturers are having issues to one degree or another. Colts working hard to fix all their stuff. Anything new is gonna have some teething pains

I have the New Cobra and love it. Due to my size XXL hands I put on a set of Pachmayr Compacs. Fits in my front pant pocket and can be drawn without snagging. I love it. I also have the 4" New King Cobra. Out of the box trigger is fantastic. I am waiting on the New Python to become available. If I didn't already have the 2" Cobra, I wouldn't flinch to buy the 2" KC. But I don't see much advantage to a 357 over the 38 +P.

If you can't tell, I love Colt revolvers. Ten and still buying.

I like the looks of the King Cobra and held one but when I held the Kimber, I was hooked and I got the 2 inch DAO with night sights. I really couldn’t afford it but I was able to trade two other guns, both 22s which I had no need for, and my out of pocket was very low as a result. The Kimber has a great balance, feel and trigger with 6 rounds and it fits in a pocket, although I prefer to carry it AIWB. It shoots beautifully with 38s, +P and is very manageable for me with 357.

I became aware of the firing pin problem shortly after purchase and was not happy about it at all. But it was recommended on the Kimber forum to use snap caps for dry firing. I did that and have not had a problem. It has become a favorite. It’s one of those guns that just seems to be the sweet spot where it just seems to fit right, at least for me.

I have had Smiths and Rugers for many years, all in 357, to compare, but the Kimber just makes me smile when I hold it, shoot it and carry it.

Meh pass at both, I would go with the Kimber if it was still in sole Warne "hands", but Greg Warne died 14 years ago.

Kimber. They also make a DA/SA so don't let that be the deciding factor and in 3" and 4" barrel lengths so don't let that be the deciding factor.

I haven't handled a Colt, but I have handled a few Kimbers and just purchased one last week. To me the Colt's look "cheap". I've read that's not the case, but when looking at them through the gun shop glass all I can think is "Charter Arms".

I am looking to add one of these revolvers to my ccw rotation. Which would you choose? And, why?

I have several k frames and j frames and looking at these two at the LGS I must admit I like the feel of their triggers and the extra weight over say an Airweight.

The Kimber is 23 ounces and I would get the DAO. The Colt is 25 ounces and I would probably get the dasa model. I have others available so, just looking for a quality ccw. Any thoughts?

Strange, I've read many reviews of the (new) Cobra over the past couple years, and they've been almost universally consistent in praising this revolver. And 9 inches to the left? Count me in the utter disbelief column. My Cobras are not only capable of above average accuracy, but their triggers are superb.

I used to have an SP101 with a 2.25" barrel. It never "felt" right to me. I can't remember which way it was but it naturally pointed either low or high for me. I also couldn't shoot it in S/A any more accurately than I could my Airweight 442 in DAO. I also found .357's really hurt my followup shot time so I carried hot Buffalo Bore .38's in it. I eventually traded it for a Kahr MK9, then sold that a couple weeks ago and used the proceeds to get this Kimber. I'm hoping I have time to take it to the range this afternoon. In dryfiring it I sure like it a lot more than the SP101. I'm hoping the 3" barrel helps tame .357 just a tad, we shall see....

Isn't the Kimber a little heavier than the sp101? The 3" barrel should balance better. Good luck

Per the published specs the K6s 2" is lighter than the SP101 2.25" by about 3 oz. Even the Kimber with the 3" barrel is supposedly 1oz lighter than the SP snubby. My cheap kitchen scale agrees with Kimber's numbers of 25oz; I don't have access to a better scale until I get to go back to the office.

It certainly balances well. It feels remarkably nice in the hand.

Thanks Have fun with the Kimber!!!

Thank you all for your replies. I like both the Kimber K6s and the Colt Cobra. I decided to buy the Colt Cobra, ss with the exposed hammer. I found a deal on Gunbroker for $575 + shipping. Very excited!

If I really like it when it arrives, I am going to add the bobbed hammer Night Cobra as well. Anxiously awaiting!

I like the Kimber but, was concerned about the company NOT fixing the firing pin issue in their DAO models.

Thank you again for sharing your thoughts and experience. It did help me decide.
