Spoke with my gunshop today and they told me my Kimber solo would not be coming in april but late this year:cuss:This gunshop is a very large kimber dealer also. You folks waiting on the solos might be waiting for awhile:(

frankc,

I'm a Kimber owner and fan, but I would suggest that waiting awhile on this newly introduced pistol to be advisable.
Close examination of the gun shows questionable assembly/components. The pin in the frame on the side and under the removed slide appears to be rolled-up flat metal instead of proper roll-pins. That's a shortcut that makes me wonder about what I can't readily see. I believe the EMP is a better choice of the ilk until Kimber upgrades/de-bugs the initial offering.

Bummer. From the dealer model I had a chance to check out, though, it will be worth the wait. GREAT little gun.

Looks like a Sigma/SR9 knockoff

What do they want for one of these?
Can't speak to the Sigma, but I've shot the SR9 quite a bit, and it's a lot different than the SR9. It's steel, and much smaller among other things.

Oh, and the price is different, too. I believe they want about $800.00 for the Solo.

Definitely available, I got to handle one of a customer of mines the other day, he's had his about a month also. Of course he also has a good buddy who's a dealer. Very surprised at the size, I liked the way it handled. Its definitely gonna be a popular gun, he said he's had two offers for a grand or more

As of March 30th "ish"...you can order a solo, but the production is in such high demand, and kimber has "sold out" of there current "stock" that you will not be able to recieve one untill 2012. This pistol is in such high demand, due to kimbers quaility and reputation. Most that i have talked to who have shot and handled one, say that it has functioned flawlessly, and are extremely happy with thier purchase. I, on the other hand, am still waiting for mine, only handled one, i am fifth in line to recieve mine, hopefully i will recieve it in the next couple of months! god i hope so......

We were "given" one to show in the case and had such response we had a list of about 25 people who wanted one. So far, we've gotten two more in. (23 still to go just to satisfy initial demand).
Kimber is not the most responsive manufacturer and we're master dealers. Got a ton on order of all kinds.

I went to the Kimber web site while commenting on another post and found this notice:

Quantity: Sold out
Price: $725.00

This product has sold out.
Solo Carry Stainless 9mm

Update 3-1-2011 – We have closed pre-orders. If you want to be notified about availability, feel free to email [email protected]. The Stainless Solo has not started shipping and it is not expected to start shipping until June or July, 2011.

If you want the two tone, you get the same reponse

But, sounds like with the problems owners have reported, they have pulled back to solve the problems.
That's not a bad thing.
