Kirst or R&D?

Most everything I've heard or read says keep it to "cowboy" or blackpowder level loads. Particularly in the Colts. I personally plan on loading them on the lighter side using Trail Boss or the like, or shooting BP cartridges.

Thanks, mic214!

Nice to hear little details like the Howell's has safety notches...

Do you shoot smokeless cartridges?
I know the cylinder is rated for SAAMI specs.....but can these revolvers hold up to standard pressure smokeless cartridges?
I do shoot smokeless cowboy loads through both, which they handle just fine. I haven't shot any standard pressure rounds through either one...

You said that,"I do shoot smokeless cowboy loads through both, which they handle just fine. I haven't shot any standard pressure rounds through either one..."

I assume that means that you handload, and have slightly loaded "down" your rounds?

Yes, I do shoot handloads and factory "Cowboy" ammo through both of them. Kirst, R&D and Howell all say that their conversion cylinders are to be used with either black powder ammuniton or "Cowboy action" ammunition.

"Cowboy" loads, whether they are handloads or factory ammo usually run below 1,000 fps and use lead bullets only.
