I was thinking about getting a cartridge conversion for my 58 remington and finally decided on getting the R&D but heard about company problems. According to other posts the R&D gun shop is having problems and cylinders are on backorder. Are all the R&D cylinders sold by buffalo arms and midway usa made by the R&D gun shop. Is the problem fixed or should i get a kirst (really doesn't matter since they both are good). Where is the best place to buy them from, price really doesn't matter mainly quality. Any info on this would help a lot thanks.

The older R&D's were nickel plated as there was a question of the strength of the strainless (?). I have 2 for the ROA, one is stainless and one is nickeled, so there was a changeover at some point.

Good..I thought it was weird that the inside of the chamber is just as shiny as the outside. I've never had a nickel plated revolver, out of curiosity, is the inside of the cylinder plated, too?

I bought a R&D cylinder over a year ago for my ROA. It is solid stainless steel. The nickle plated ones must be from a long time ago.

They still have them listed on their site, the Pietta stainless Remington description says,"The cylinders are finished in brushed nickel to match the stainless revolvers," but luckily, mine's stainless. It's the only stainless cylinder listed for Pietta Remingtons, but it must be incorrect. The one I bought from Midway is made of the same stainless as the one I have for my ROA.
