Of course, otherwise someone simply doing a "happy slap" with some friends might get hurt when they target a random person.

Britain is so far left and anti self defense that these things have been mentioned many times.

They actualy have portable metal detectors they force entire areas to go through on occasion (the type you see at the airport, not the wands)
Having a pocket knife is already illegal.

If you get into a pack with some friends you really can do almost anything you want in the UK. Nobody can legaly have anything to even the odds, and unnarmed violence is merely a slap on the wrist, while simply being armed at all is a serious offense.

It is almost like they want to encourage group beatings.

Leftist socialist police state, like some states in the US would be if they were not subject to the Bill of Rights.

"Young people need to understand that carrying knives doesn't protect you, it does the opposite — it increases the danger for all of us, destroys young lives and ruins families," Brown said.

Hmm, and how does the Prime Minister protect himself?

Looks like they'll have to ban GLASS, next.

According to the article referenced, one youngster got stabbed by somebody with a piece of glass (note that I did NOT say, "got stabbed by a piece of glass").

"Glass doesn't kill people: people kill people."
National Glass Association

You know, glass is just an unsavory character. It often runs with bad associates - often alcoholic and intoxicating. I've seen nearly a whole liter of whiskey nestling inside a glass bottle. I think they should ban glass, too. ;)
